Connecting with nature at Guaiqueri Park (Eng/Esp)

When I need to take a break from my routine—which can sometimes be overwhelming—I head to Guaiquerí Park, a place that captivates my senses with its vast green spaces. There, I can take in the different hues that nature offers: the sky-blue sky and the whitish clouds, along with the green of the trees and the vibrant colors of the plants, fill me with optimism. Also, the chirping of the birds, the children playing and smiling, while in the distance you can hear a symphony coming from young people rehearsing in the band shell—everything here is a feast for the senses.

On this occasion, I explored some very beautiful gardens that are a bit away from the main entrance; the flowering plants caught my attention, especially an arch made of slender logs, which was decorated with fuchsia and white trumpet vines. Right there, they’ve created a walkway that could be the perfect setting for a wedding, just like in romantic movies.

I also visited another spot filled with concrete benches and a concrete floor marked with multiple squares. This place is a bit off the beaten path, so it’s very peaceful here; plus, it’s close to the banks of the Manzanares River, so you can really feel the cool breeze in the air.

While the park has large expanses of grass where you can enjoy a picnic or relax reading a book in the shade of a tree, I also enjoy spending time in open-air spots where the sun warms you and the atmosphere is arid. The landscape changes, as do the colors; the piles of dry leaves spread across a wide expanse of land have their own charm.

The truth is that this park offers a variety of settings where you can enjoy different sports and cultural activities. Courts, calisthenics equipment, swings, merry-go-rounds, cabins, an acoustic shell, walking paths...

You can also see couples in the park seeking solitude, as well as entire families enjoying a picnic or a celebration. In any case, during turbulent times, it becomes necessary to seek alternatives to clear your mind and fill yourself with peace and energy—the kind that nature is capable of conveying, especially when we manage to align ourselves with it.

Si necesito desconectarme un rato de la rutina, que a veces, suele ser abrumadora, dirijo mis pasos hacia el parque Guaiquerí, un lugar que cautiva mis sentidos por sus extensas áreas verdes. Allí puedo percibir los diferentes tonos que ofrece la naturaleza, el azul celeste y las blanquecinas nubes, más el verde de los árboles y lo multicolor de las plantas, me llenan de optimismo. También el trinar de los pájaros, los niños jugando mientras sonríen, en tanto a lo lejos se escucha una sinfonía proveniente de jóvenes que ensayan en la concha acústica, todo aquí es un espectáculo para los sentidos.

En esta ocasión exploré unos jardines muy hermosos que están un poco alejados de la entrada principal, las plantas floreadas llamaron mi atención, sobre todo, un arco elaborado con troncos delgados, el cual estaba decorado con trinitarias fucsias y blancas. Allí mismo realizaron una caminería que podría ser perfecto escenario para una boda, tal como ocurre en las películas de corté romántico.

También visité otro lugar lleno de bancos de cemento y un piso de concreto con múltiples cuadros. Este sitio está un poco alejado, así que se respira mucha tranquilidad acá, además está próximo a las riberas de Río Manzanares por lo que la sensación de frescura se deja sentir en el ambiente.

Si bien el parque posee grandes extensiones de grama para disfrutar de un picnic, o relajarse leyendo un libro bajo la sombra de un árbol, también me agrada la estadía en sitios a la intemperie, donde el sol calienta y el ambiente es árido. El paisaje cambia y también los colores, las hojas secas amontonadas sobre una amplia extensión de tierra, también tienen su encanto.

Lo cierto es que este parque ofrece distintos escenarios donde se pueden realizar diferentes actividades deportivas y culturales. Canchas, aparatos de calistenia, columpios, ruedas, cabañas, Concha Acústica, caminerías...

También en el parque se pueden apreciar a parejas en búsqueda de soledad, además de familias enteras disfrutando de un día de picnic o de una celebración. Como sea, en momentos convulsos se hace necesario buscar alternativas para despejar la mente y llenarse de paz y energía, esa que es capaz de transmitir la naturaleza, sobre todo cuando logramos alinearnos con ella.
