A beautiful paradise to admire (Eng/Esp)

English version

Maigualida Beach still has many beautiful sights to offer; a clear sky with just a few clouds stretched out before us mid-morning, and various gannets and seagulls fluttered in the air—I could see them up close, and they were truly huge.

This beach curves to the left, giving it the appearance of a lake; the crystal-clear water and the reflection of the trees on the hill and the coconut palms along the shore accentuated this impression. The palm trees were very tall and laden with young coconuts, so we had to be careful when standing in the shade of some of them.

My attention was drawn to two tamarind trees bearing fruit—the first time I’d ever seen them on a beach. They can thrive in this environment thanks to their tolerance for salinity and resistance to strong winds. However, they’re planted further inland because they can’t withstand direct contact with saltwater.

There were several boats in the sea, a sign that we had arrived at a fishing community; the people here make their living from fishing and survive thanks to the seafood they gather from the beach. The boats were quite colorful and had very unique names. As I walked along the shore, I saw a fisherman in front of his house scaling some mullet on a wooden board.

On the east side is the Maguilida Hotel, a lovely place to stay for the night, with beautiful gardens and private parking. From the outside, you can see that it’s a very pleasant and peaceful place, with an incredible view. The building is laid out horizontally, so the rooms are cabin-style. At night, the view must be breathtaking because the beach has a sort of forest on one side, and those scenes in the moonlight would undoubtedly look like a painting.

I liked the beach; its shoreline is sandy almost all the way along, except in the wooded area, where there’s a mixture of sand and mud that makes it easy for your feet to sink in. I didn’t care for that part of the beach—it feels like a muddy puddle, caused by the waves reaching the vegetation and carrying away soil, dragging along organic matter that later turns into a dark, paste-like sand.
