From Waterfalls to Historic Scenes; Anatolian Fire in Aspendos - Şelalelerden Tarihi Sahneye; Aspendos'ta Anadolu Ateşi ( EN-TR)

My brother and I had booked our tickets days in advance to have the chance to see the impressive performance of Anadolu Ateşi, which meets its audience every weekend in the Aspendos Ancient Theatre, a place steeped in history. Even before the show began, the symbols and images projected onto the ancient theatre's centuries-old stones made it clear from the very first scene how impressive the visual spectacle awaiting us would be.

My brother and his family, who came from Bartın to visit me in Antalya, and I had bought tickets for the show days in advance. About two thousand people gathered at the Aspendos Ancient Theatre that evening to watch the Anadolu Ateşi show, which was scheduled to start at 9 PM. A long queue formed at the ticket office hours beforehand. We joined that queue. To get inside, we had to scan the QR code on our tickets at the ticket office. Everyone entered by scanning their tickets one by one.

Bartın'dan Antalya'ya beni ziyarete gelen kardeşim ve ailesiyle birlikte gösterinin biletini günler öncesinden almıştık. Anadolu Ateşi'nin saat 21.00'de başlayacak olan gösterisini izlemek için yaklaşık iki bin kişi o akşam Aspendos Antik Tiyatrosu'nda bir araya gelmiştik. Saatler öncesinden gişede kalabalık bir sıra oluştu. Bizde o sıranın arasına katıldık. İçeri girebilmek için, almış olduğumuz biletimizin karekodunu gişede okutmamız gerekiyordu. The Aspendos Ancient Theatre is located within the boundaries of the Belkıs neighborhood in the Serik district of Antalya. This historical structure, built by the Romans, is situated near the Köprüçay River. The city theatre has two hills, one large and one small, reflecting the richness of the city's past. As one of the rare cities in Turkey with an amphitheater, it has gained worldwide recognition. Aspendos was a wealthy settlement due to its location on a trade route. Because the Köprüçay River connected the city to a harbor, it has been a coveted settlement area for many civilizations throughout history.

Aspendos Antik Tiyatro, Antalya'nın Serik ilçesine bağlı olan Belkıs mahallesi sınırları içinde yer alıyor. Mahalleye yakın olan Köprüçay Nehri adı verilen bölgenin bulunduğu noktada bu tarihi yapı, Romalılar tarafından inşa edilmiş. Kent tiyatrosunun iki tepesi var. My brother and his family and I first went exploring Düden and Kurşunlu waterfalls, one of Antalya's unique beauties, before going to the evening show. Actually, our initial plan was to go swimming in the sea. However, since returning from the sea and getting ready again at home would have wasted our time, we changed our route to Düden and Kurşunlu waterfalls, which are closer to the Aspendos route.

Kardeşim ve ailesiyle birlikte akşam gösteriye gitmeden önce önce Antalya'nın eşsiz güzelliklerinden biri olan Düden ve Kurşunlu şelalesine keşfe çıktık. Aslında ilk planımız denize girmekti. Ancak denizden dönmek ve eve geçip yeniden hazırlanmak bize zaman kaybettireceği için rotamızı Aspendos güzergahına daha yakın olan Düden ve Kurşunlu Şelalesine çevirmiştik.

It had been a long time since I'd visited Düden Waterfall, which is quite close to Antalya city center. I usually come here in the late spring. At that time, the water flows more vigorously as the snow melts. This is our first time coming in the summer with my brother and his family. Düden Waterfall immediately catches the eye with its water cascading down between rocks and caves, its cool air, and its lush green surroundings. The broad-trunked trees surrounding it, defying time, along with the colorful flowers and verdant vegetation, bring a refreshing coolness to the area. Walking among the shaded trees and plants, accompanied by the soothing sound of the water, creates a peaceful atmosphere. The water cascading down from a height of approximately 30 meters over moss, bushes, and rocks into the pool offered a visual feast after our astonished gazes. The green vines hanging down from the height towards the pool and the shimmering reflection of the water were particularly stunning.

Antalya şehir merkezine oldukça yakın olan Düden Şelalesine gelmeyi çok uzun zaman olmuştu. Ben buraya genellikle bahar sonrası geliyorum. O dönemlerde karların erimesiyle sular daha gür akıyor. Yaklaşık 30 metre yükseklikten yosunların, çalıların ve kayaların üstünden havuza dökülen sular, şaşkın bakışların ardından bize görsel şölen yaşatıyordu. Özellikle yüksekten havuza doğru sarkan yeşil sarmaşıklar ve suyun etrafa yaydığı parlaklık mükemmek görünüyordu.

They've built stairs and rocky passageways around the waterfall so you can explore it. There are small caves providing access beneath the pool of water cascading down from a height. By entering these caves, you can see the source of the water and the pool it flows into. There's also something interesting here: bats have created a habitat inside the caves. When you arrive at one of the caves, you can look up and see many bats at the top. In fact, once you enter the cave, you'll realize it's a bat habitat from the smell. It's even written on a sign.

After visiting Düden Waterfall, we went to Kurşunlu Waterfall, located nearby. Kurşunlu Waterfall is situated in the Aksu district of Antalya. It is a natural beauty located within a canyon approximately two meters wide, spread over a large area of ​​greenery, mostly surrounded by pine and cedar trees. The waterfall, consisting of small pools, connects a total of seven lakes. Like Düden Waterfall, the waterfall cascades down from a height of approximately 20 meters through bushes, grasses, and moss into the pools. The only difference from Düden Waterfall is that the area surrounding the canyon is a large forested park where various animal species can live. This park area includes picnic areas, viewing terraces, a children's playground, and walking paths.

Düden şelalesini gezdikten sonra, yakınında yer alan Kurşunlu şelalesine gittik. Kurşunluk şelalesi, Antalya'nın Aksu ilçesinde yer alıyor. Çoğunluğu çam ağaçları ve sedir ağaçlarıyla çevrili yeşillik geniş bir alana yayılan yaklaşık iki metralik bir kanyon içinde yer lan doğal bir güzelliktir. Küçük küçük havuzlardan oluşan şelale toplamda yedi gölü birbirine bağlıyor. Şelale tıpkı düden de olduğu gibi yaklaşık 20 metre yükseklikten çalıların otların ve yosunların arasından havuza akıyor. The area surrounding the stream where the waterfall flows is full of greenery and various plants. We can see the flowing water from stone bridges that provide easy passage over the water. There are also large trees whose roots hang down over the water's surface. The dried leaves falling from the trees onto the turquoise water create beautiful scenery. Occasionally, colorful ducks swim on the water, displaying their claim to the place with their playful movements.

Şelalanin aktığı derenin etrafı yeşillik ve farklı bitki otlarıyla dolu. Akan suları suyun üstünde geçiş kolaylığı sağlanan taşlı köprülerden görebiliyoruz. Buranın bir de geniş gövdeli ağaç kökleri suyun üstüne doğru sarkmışlar. Ağaçlardan turkuaz rengi suyun üstüne düşen kurumuş yapraklar çok güzel manzaralar oluşturmuş. There were two hours left until the show started at the ancient city of Aspendos. We spent about an hour at Kurşunlu Waterfall. We had an hour for dinner. We immediately went to Şimşek Köfte Piyaz restaurant, one of the famous culinary spots in Aksu. After satisfying our hunger there, we set off towards the ancient city of Aspendos to watch the show. When we arrived, there wasn't a very long queue. But as the show time approached, the crowd grew. There are two entrances to the theater. The front stone seats are reserved for VIP guests. Their entrance is from a different area. The seating areas on the second and third steps of the theater are reserved for standard audience members. Despite the darkening sky, I am frankly curious about the show that Anadolu Ateşi will present, which brought together approximately 2000 people in these stone seats.

Aspendos Antik Kent'indeki gösterinin başlamasına iki saat kalmıştı. Kurşunlu Şelalesinde yaklaşık bir saat zaman geçirdik. Akşam yemeği için, bir saat zamanımız vardı. Hemen Aksu'da meşhur lezzet duraklarından biir olan Şimşek Köfte Piyaz restoranına geldik. Buraya karnımızı doyurduktan sonra, gösteriyi izlemek için Aspendos Antik Kentine doğru yola çıktık. Before the performance, the famous words of Atatürk, the founder of Turkey, about Aspendos are reflected on the stones of history:

"Restore this theater. But don't lock its doors. Give performances there. Keep Aspendos alive."
Then the performance begins.

The show is performed by Anadolu Ateşi, a world-renowned dance troupe that brings together over 100 dancers showcasing the richness of Turkish culture, perhaps presenting one of the fastest dance shows in the world. Their performances, which incorporate Anatolian dances, modern dance, and ballet, transforming famous regional dances into art with rhythmic artistry, have made them Türkiye's most famous dance group. We can say that Anadolu Ateşi is the group that best reflects Turkish culture and folk dances. They also represent Türkiye by performing in many countries, including the USA and China.

Gösteriyi sahneleyen Anadolu Ateşi, özellikle Türk kültürünün zenginliğini yansıtan 100'ü aşkın dansıcının bir araya gelerek, belki de dünyanın en hızlı dans gösterilerinden birini sergileyen dünyaca ünlü dans topluluğudur. Anadolu dansları, modern dans, baleyi içeren gösteriler ve yörelerin meşhur danslarını sanata dönüştüren bir ritmik ile sergiliyor olmaları onları Türkiye'nin en meşhur dans grubu haline getirdi. At the end of the show, which lasted about two hours, everyone was smiling. Some gave the dancers a standing ovation. The Black Sea regional dance troupe, in particular, received great applause. The dancers' flawless harmony, impressive choreography, and the powerful sound system accompanying the music were all wonderful. Furthermore, the dancers' performance was very impressive. The scenes in the show seemed extremely difficult to memorize and to perform quickly and practically. As soon as one dance ended, another began. Everyone wondered what the next dance would be like. Despite this, the absence of any glitches on stage was due to the dancers' success.

Yaklaşık iki saati bulan gösteri sonunda herkesin yüzü gülüyordu. Dansçıları ayakta aklışlayanlar oldu. Özellikle Karadeniz yöresinin dans ekibi oldukça alkış aldı. Dansçıların kusursuz uyumu, etkileyici koreografi ve güçlü ses sistemiyle sahnede çalınan müzikler herşey çok güzeldi. Ayrıca dansçıların performansı çok etkileyiciydi. My brother and his family and I had a wonderful day. Everything went exactly as planned. My nieces and nephews thoroughly enjoyed the show. After the performance, we took memorable photos among the historic stones of Aspendos.
