You probably noticed it at first glance, didn't you? I couldn't ignore the turquoise color of the clear sea, the waves gently lapping against the shore, and the mixture of pebbles and sand that gives the beach its natural texture. One of the biggest factors contributing to this beautiful natural view is that the beach consists of pebbles instead of sand. The mountains in the background seem to be an integral part of this beauty. The way the sun's rays hit the mountains reveals all the beauty of nature. And those shy clouds trying to hide behind the mountains also highlight the beauty of the scenery. The name of the beach that brings all these beauties together is Belcekız Beach.

İlk bakışta sizde hemen fark ettiniz değil mi? Berrak denizin turkuaz rengiyle kıyıya nazikçe vuran dalgalarını ve sahile doğal bir yapı kazandıran çakıl ve kumun karışımını görmezden gelemezdim. Bu güzel doğal görünümü sağlayan en büyük etkenlerden biri de sahilin kum yerine çakıldan oluşmasıdır. Arka plandaki dağlar ise bu güzelliğin birer parçası olmuş gibi duruyorlar. Güneş ışınlarının dağlara vurma şekli, doğanın tüm güzelliğini bize gösteriyor. Birde dağların arkasında kendini saklama çalışan o çekingen bulutlar manzaranın güzelliğini ortaya çıkarıyor. Tüm bu güzellikleri bir arada toplayan plajın adı Belcekız Plajıdır.

This beautiful and charming beach is located in the Ölüdeniz resort town of Fethiye district in Muğla province, Türkiye. Ranked among Türkiye's most beautiful beaches, it is surrounded by several shallow areas partially separated from the sea by thin strips of land, a phenomenon also known worldwide. To get there, we set off from Antalya city center one weekend. The journey from Antalya to Ölüdeniz takes approximately 3 to 3.5 hours. There are two different routes from Antalya to Ölüdeniz. One is the completely coastal route from Antalya to Kumluca, Kaş, and Fethiye, and the other is the Antalya-Korkuteli-Elmalı and Fethiye route. I chose the shorter Antalya-Korkuteli route.

Bu güzel ve şirin plaj, Türkiye'nin Muğla iline bağlı, Fethiye ilçesindeki Ölüdeniz tatil kasabasında yer alıyor. Türkiye'nin bilinen en güzel plajları arasında yer alan plajın hemen yanında dünyada da ün yapmış ince kara parçalarıyla denizden kısmen ayrılmış olan bir kaç sığ su alanları vardır. Buraya gelmek için, bir hafta sonu Antalya merkezden yola çıktık. Antalya'dan Ölüdeniz yaklaşık 3 veya 3,5 saat sürüyor. Antalya'dan Ölüdeniz'e iki farklı rota var. Biri tamamen sahil kenarından oluşan Antalya- Kumluca Kaş ve Fethiye güzergahı, diğeri ise, Antalya Korkuteli- Elmalı ve Fethiye yol güzergahı. Ben kısa olan Antalya Korkuteli yol güzergahını seçtik.

It was early morning when we arrived at the beach. We had specifically timed it for this time because we wanted to see the sun rising behind the mountains and the resulting view. We would wait until evening to watch the sunset. The sea was so calm that there were only a few other people there who had come to enjoy its tranquility. The pebbles on the beach gleamed in the sunlight. As soon as we stepped onto the shore, we were greeted by the sound of the pebbles crunching. We also felt the gentle, refreshing breeze trying to blow.

Plaja vardığımızda sabahın erken saatleriydi. Özellikle bu zamana denk getirmiştik. Çünkü güneşin dağların arasından yükselişini ve oluşan manzarayı görmek istedik. Aynı şekilde batışı için akşam saatlerini bekleyecektik. Deniz öyle sakin ki, bizim gibi bu sakin denizi görmeye gelen birkaç kişi daha vardı. Sahildeki çakıl taşları güneşin ışınlarıyla parlıyordu. Sahile ilk adımımızı attığımızda çakıl taşlarının sesiyle karşılaştık. Birde hafif hafif esmeye çalışan o serinleten rüzgarın hışmını hissettik.

Along the approximately 1 km stretch of beach, there were businesses that hadn't yet opened for the season. Some were even preparing, arranging sun loungers and umbrellas. Shower areas, shower cabins, and toilets and sinks were available along the beach. Behind the beach, souvenir shops, fish restaurants, and guesthouses, while not fully operational, were in a state of readiness for the season. There's a large open grassy area behind the beach where nature lovers gather. They prepare for paragliding. Paragliders take off from the Ölüdeniz hill and land here, supporting each other. While we were walking around, we also saw people packing up their parachutes and practicing. This beach is also one of the few beaches in Turkey to have received the Blue Flag award. This achievement is proudly displayed on a sign in a section of the beach.

Yaklaşık 1 km bulan sahilin kenarlarında henüz sezonu açmamış işletmeler vardı. Hatta bazı işletmeler hazırlık yaparak şezlong ve şemsiyelerini düzenlemeye çalışıyorlardı. Sahil boyunca duş için alanlar duşa kabinler ve ihtiyaçlar için WC ve lavabolar mevcuttu. Sahilin gerisinde hediyelik eşya satan dükkanlar, balık restoranları ve pansiyonlar tam anlamıyla faaliyette olmasalar da sezon hazırlığı için bekleme konumunda yer alıyorlardı. Sahilin gerisinde çimenlik bir alanda geniş bir boşluk var. Burada doğasever bir araya gelerek toplanıyor. Burada yamaç paraşütü için hazırlık yapıyorlar. Ölüdeniz tepesinden yamaç paraşütüyle havalanan doğaseverler buraya iniş yaparak birbirlerine destek oluyorlar. Biz etrafı gezerken paraşütünü toplayan ve antrenman yapan kişilerde vardı. Bu plaj aynı zamanda Mavi Bayrak ödülünü almış sayılı plajlarımız arasındadır. Bu gururu plajın bir bölümünde tanıtım panosunda göstermişler.

The beach is called Belcekız Beach. I learned about the story behind this name from a sailor working on his boat on the shore. According to him, there was a very beautiful girl living in this area. Her name was Belce, or as some called her, Belcekız. A fisherman living in the same coastal village fell in love with her. This fisherman often went out to sea and would meet Belcekız upon his return. One time, a great storm broke out. Instead of seeking refuge on the safe island of Ölüdeniz, the fisherman wanted to approach the shore where Belcekız lived, just to see his beloved. Because the storm was so strong, the fisherman's boat capsized. The young fisherman lost his life in the overturned boat. Upon hearing this news, Belcekız, unable to bear her grief, threw herself into the sea from the edge of the cliff. Based on this sad love story, they named this beach Belcekız Beach. I would like to add a love story to this sad tale.

Plajın adı Belcekız Plajı olarak geçiyor. Bu ismin bir hikayesi olduğunu sahilde teknesiyle uğraşan bir gemiciden öğreniyorum. Anlattığına göre, bu bölgede yaşayan çok güzel bir kız varmış. Bu kızın adı da Belce ya da bazı kişilerde Belcekız dermiş. Aynı sahil köyünde yaşayan bir balıkçı bu kıza aşık olmuş. Bu balıkçı sık sık denize açılıp, dönüşte de Belcekız ile buluşurmuş. Bir balıkçı denize açıldığında büyük bir fırtına çıkmış. Balıkçının güvenli olan Ölüdeniz adasına sığınması gerekirken, aşkını görebilmek uğruna Belcekızın bulunduğu kıyıya yanaşmak istemiş. Fırtına çok kuvvetli olduğunu için kıyıya yanaşmak isteyen balıkçının teknesi devrilmiş. Genç balıkçı devrilen teknede hayatını kaybetmiş. Bu haberi duyan Belcekız acısına dayanamayarak kendini uçurumun kenarından denize atmış. Bu hüzünlü aşk hikayesinden yola çıkarak bu plaja Belcekız plajı adını vermişler. Bu hüzünlü hikayeye aşk dolu bir sahne eklemek isterim.

The fact that the season hasn't officially started yet makes this place even more beautiful. As we walked along the shore, we savored the moment and the tranquility, listening to the sound of the waves and the strong wind that was whipping our hair. When we looked up, we saw paragliders suddenly emerging from the clouds. They were all heading towards the grassy area of ​​the beach. The mountains surrounding the beach, and Ölüdeniz and Belcekız beaches opposite, seemed to have taken refuge. The turquoise color of the sea was reflected in the surrounding beauty. The bright face of the sun, the extension of the mountains, the vibrant and shiny appearance of the pebbles—they all seemed to influence each other. It was as if the seeds of beauty of Belcekız Beach had been scattered all around.

Sezonun daha açılmamış olması burayı daha güzel hala getirmiş. Kıyıdan yürürken bir yandan dalga sesleri, bir yandan da saçlarımızı savurmaya çalışan o şiddetli rüzgarla anın tadını ve sessizliğini yaşıyorduk. Kafamızı yukarıya kaldırdığımızda bulutların arasından bira anda çıkan paraşütçüleri görüyoruz. Hepsi rotalarını sahilin çimenlik alana doğru sürüyorlar. Sahilin etrafını saran dağlar ve karşısındaki Ölüdeniz'le Belcekız plajı kendini koruma altına almış görünüyor. Denizin o turkuaz rengi etrafındaki güzelliklere de yansımış. Güneşin parlak yüzü, dağların uzantısı , çakıl taşlarının canlı ve parlak görünüşü hepsi birbirinden etkilenmiş görünüyor. Belcekız Plajının güzellik tohumları adeta etrafa serpilmiş.

It was getting dark when we left Belcekız Beach. We wanted to take one last look at the beach from Ölüdeniz hill before nightfall, because we rarely forget places like this that have a story behind them. I wish you all a wonderful week.
