We went back to get a better look at the Chapel of Saint Barbara. It's right next to the castle, almost as if it were integrated into it.

The afternoon light was hitting it from the side, making it more difficult to take photos. The stone of the chapel isn't uniform. There are marks, small flaws, more worn areas. Nothing has been hidden.

Saint Barbara is associated with protection against storms and thunder, and at that high point, that connection makes sense. The space is open, exposed. I can imagine other times, other concerns, people climbing up there not out of curiosity, but out of necessity. Promises, requests, or simply faith.

Next to it, a small, simple, almost empty square. And that's where the tree appears. Very tall, but with a balanced shape, as if it had been carefully designed. It reminded me of a bonsai, but life-size. I stood there looking at it for longer than I expected, trying to figure out if it was just the effect of the light or if there was something really unusual there.
That's when I noticed the sound.

A continuous, insistent buzzing. The tree was full of bees. The approach immediately became less interesting. I took a few steps back, then another one or two, until I found a comfortable distance. Far, I mean.
Longe quero eu dizer.

Still, the image remained. That almost perfect form, occupied by intense activity, inaccessible. Beautiful, but with clear limits. Not everything that attracts invites you to stay.
Ainda assim, a imagem ficou.

Right in front of the chapel, as if someone had decided to balance the composition, there was a huge aloe vera. The largest I've ever seen. The thick leaves, tied with a rope, made it seem as if it were being controlled to prevent its growth from getting out of control. While the tree seemed contained and precise, this aloe vera occupied the space with a different attitude. I found this contrast curious.

The square was empty. No tourists, no movement. Only the sound of the wind, the bees and, in the distance, some scattered noise coming from the café. There are no major signs, plaques or signals. And this leaves space, but also generates doubts. I had the feeling that I knew little about the place, about the chapel itself. Perhaps there could be more context. Or perhaps it's not necessary.
O largo estava vazio.

I sat on a rock, now away from the tree, and rested there for a few minutes. The buzzing increased and decreased as the wind passed.
When I got up to continue, I didn't feel like I had discovered anything extraordinary, except for the giant plant. But I also didn't feel like I had passed by without noticing. Marialva stays with us, little by little, in details that don't seem important at the moment, but end up remaining in our memory.
I hope you enjoyed.
See you around.
Wishing you much peace and health

STOPThat was an amazing view of the chapel of St. Barbara next to the castle. One of a kind that this two are together in a place.
A very charming place. This aloe fascinated me. It looks a bit like a bee sting.
