I remembered this dessert when I visited the small Romanian town of Sighisoara a year and a half ago... The taste of the famous Romanian dessert haunted me in my dreams π€ͺ

So, today in this post I will begin the story of the unforgettable impressions of my three-day visit to Bucharest, the capital of Romania... Which my daughters @bugavi and @darine.darine and I started on Valentine's Day
It's been a few months since we experienced this incredible moment of flying above the clouds and landing in a country whose language we don't speak. Knowing in advance that we would arrive very early and that checking into an Airbnb apartment would not be convenient, we booked one night in a hotel. It was really expensive at $160 for one night, with breakfast and a pool. We had a not-so-pleasant experience with a taxi driver who didn't understand English at all and kept explaining to us the whole way that we should pay him more money... for no reason. Luckily we had 5 euros in cash and gave it to him because he really looked angry π±

It was practically the only hotel closest to the airport. It was of good quality, but then we sadly discovered that the restaurant was closed on weekends. So we went to a restaurant, which turned out to be Serbian, on the recommendation of the receptionist. In this way, we had the opportunity to experience two countries at once: Romania and Serbia.
There was a wonderful festive atmosphere for Valentine's Day, I loved the blazing fireplace and the wooden design, and a bright element of decor - serbian national shoes !

The next day we moved to another Airbnb apartment, closer to the center, which cost $80 per day. We traveled by Uber taxi. It is great luck that this service is available there and quite budget-friendly. For example, moving from the apartment to the city center by taxi cost about $5 for the three of us. This saved us a lot of time, and we managed to see a lot during 2 days in Bucharest, in this large ancient and modern city at the same time.

We walked through the narrow streets of old Bucharest, and the rain slowly wrapped everything around us. The stone facades of the buildings breathed history... The rain only enhanced the beauty of the old architecture. The stone grew darker, the ornaments deeper, and the atmosphere even more enchanting. I walked and felt as if I wasnβt just touching a city, but someoneβs memories...

I'm trying to understand the similarities and differences between this city and all the others I've seen in Europe. There are many similar architectural elements to Kosice, Budapest, Krakow, and I also felt a great similarity to my hometown Lviv. The shape of the roofs, the balconies, the carved bizarre faces on the walls, the street lamps... I walked through these narrow streets as if I were really walking through my hometown and memories flooded my soul.

But there was something that showed that we were in a new, unknown city - these were the signs on the doors of cafes and shops. We always have fun when we read strange words, the meaning of which we do not understand, but which have a funny meaning in our native language. And then we often remember these memories and laugh. Here, for example, the inscription "supa dupa" π€£π€ͺ

Looking at every element of architectural design and various advertising items and signs, we suddenly noticed with surprise our Lviv cafe on the streets of the capital of Romania, Bucharest: "Drunk Cherry" π
This cafe, located on Rynok Square in Lviv, always attracts a lot of attention from tourists visiting our hometown. And although we have never tasted this liqueur, we felt like we had met someone close to us when we saw the familiar pattern of red cherries with green leaves :)

The rain kept falling, and the ladies under bright umbrellas were a beautiful decoration on the gray wet cobblestones. But the cold weather took its toll, and our hands were frozen. And we were also very hungry, so we looked very carefully at the cafes to choose a cozy place to hide from the rain and cold. We wanted to find a restaurant with Romanian traditional cuisine, and of course, there would be a dessert called Papanash!
We chose the tavern "Covaci" and went inside. And immediately we were immersed in the exclusive atmosphere of ancient Romania, and fell in love with this place!

Thick walls of red brick divided this room into separate halls, and smoothly turned into arches, which were also lined with red brick on the ceiling. Embroidered towels and national ceramic plates with various patterns were on the walls. In the middle stood a very beautiful conical fireplace, decorated with wood, dishes, and wrought iron products. Around were old chests, tables, benches covered with national bedspreads...

Jars of pickled vegetables stood on the windowsill, which created a cozy homely atmosphere. And a special exotic was added by the chairs with the tavern's coat of arms. We chose a table and found our dream dessert on the menu! Imagine our anticipation - like a meeting with a favorite place where you have been for a long time, and again you were in anticipation of pleasure π

Just look at this masterpiece! Two big hot cheese donuts, topped with cream and jam. It looks so beautiful that just looking at it makes your mouth water!

And in this video you can see our emotional state after dessert ππ€ͺ

We returned to the main street, where I took some photos of the beautiful church. Our taxi arrived here. We took a selfie in the rain, where you can see our happy faces. People are like that: we forget the cold and inconvenience, but keep beauty and happiness in our hearts!
In the evening, we had another walk around Bucharest at night. So, to be continued π

What a lovely way to spend Valentine's Day, my friend. Despite the expensive hotel and the incident with the taxi driver, it's clear you enjoyed this trip. A woman who dances is a happy woman!π Oh, I noticed there's an art shop with your name on it. Could these be signs from the universe?π« Hugs
