The last days of summer should be enjoyed to the fullest. The sun is slowly setting and the cold is coming, but there is still time to explore nature, breathe in the fresh air, and feel the sun on your skin without having to wear a coat. That's what we did in September 2024. We took a walk along the Tea River, near the Mondariz spa, in the beautiful and very green Galicia.

Los últimos días de verano deben procurar aprovecharse al máximo posible. El sol se va de a poco y llega el frío, pero aún hay oportunidad de explorar la naturaleza, respirar el buen aire fresco y sentir el sol en la piel sin aún usar abrigo. Eso fue lo que hicimos en el 2024, en el mes de septiembre. Dimos un paseo en el río Tea, cerca del balneario de Mondariz, en la hermosísima y muy verde Galicia.

After a 40-minute drive from Vigo, we arrived at the promenade, where there are several routes to choose from. It is 50 km long and offers a wide variety of landscapes, as is often the case in Galicia.

Luego de un viaje en coche de aproximadamente 40 minutos desde Vigo, llegamos al paseo en donde hay diversos trayectos por recorrer. Tiene 50km de longitud y hay gran variedad en el paisaje, como suele suceder en Galicia.

Our trips and outings are always family affairs. My partner, our dog Perla, and I go hiking together, regardless of the season.

Nuestros viajes y paseos siempre son familiares, vamos mi pareja, nuestra perrita Perla y yo juntos a patear el monte, sin importar la estación del año.

During the walk, much of the route looks like the photo below ⬇️ lots of greenery with endless trees, sections of the river and rocks. This walk is ideal in summer, as there is plenty of shade provided by the beautiful trees to shelter under. This keeps the temperature pleasant while you exercise, although it is still important to remember to stay hydrated.

Durante la caminata, gran parte del paseo luce como en esta foto de abajo ⬇️ mucho verde siempre con el sinfín de árboles, se van viendo tramos del río y hay piedras. Este paseo en verano es ideal, pues hay bastante sombra que brindan los bellos árboles bajo la cual resguardarse. Así la temperatura se mantiene agradable mientras se realiza el ejercicio, aunque igual es siempre importante nunca olvidar llevar la hidratación pertinente.

And there are other sections along the way with stones strategically placed to cross over the water (if the river is swollen). Thus, the forest welcomes us to a more open space that takes your breath away and recharges your energy.

Y hay otros tramos en el camino con piedras posicionadas estratégicamente para pasar sobre las aguas (si el río está crecido). Así el bosque nos da la bienvenida al espacio más abierto, que te roba el aliento y te recarga de energía.

This way we can enjoy this beauty, fully appreciating the river, listening to the wonderful and very relaxing sound of the water.

Así podemos disfrutar de esta belleza, apreciando completamente el río, escuchando el maravilloso y muy relajante sonido del agua.

On our walk, we had the good fortune to encounter some animals. My partner was born and raised in these lands and has always been in contact with nature. We love the flora and fauna. However, unlike me, he grew up hunting snakes, not to harm them, but to appreciate them, as well as other animals common to the area.

En nuestro caminar, tuvimos la dicha de encontrarnos con algunos animales. Mi pareja nació y creció entre estas tierras y siempre tuvo contacto con la naturaleza. Amamos la flora y la fauna. Sólo que a diferencia de mi, él creció cazando serpientes, para apreciarlas, sin realizarles ningún daño, y otra variedad de animales comunes de la zona.

Among the invertebrates in the area, signs indicate that dragonflies (insects that I love) are abundant, and you can see different types and colors. How can you not be enchanted by their metallic colors? They are beautiful.

Entre los invertebrados de la zona, las señaléticas nos indican que abundan las libélulas (insectos que me encantan) y se alcanzan a ver de distintos tipos y colores ¿Cómo no quedar encantado con sus colores metalizados? Son preciosas.

Personally, I loved the educational and playful design they gave to the information board, showing the diversity of species found there. Cubes that rotate with printed images of the invertebrates of the Tea River. It turned out fantastic.

Personalmente me encantó el diseño didáctico y lúdico que le dieron a la pizarra informativa, enseñando la diversidad de especies que se encuentran. Cubos que rotan con imágenes impresas de los invertebrados del río Tea. Quedó fantástico.

As you venture into the river, there are small paths within the rock formations where you can walk and climb a little, if you want. This moment gets your adrenaline pumping, challenging and exciting you. The ideal time to come is on the hottest days of summer, so you can climb and then swim in the river. You'll have a wonderful time.

Al adentrarse en el río, hay pequeños caminos dentro de las formaciones rocosas, para andar y trepar un poco, si se quiere. Este momento hace subir la adrenalina, te reta y emociona. Lo ideal verdaderamente es venir en los días más calurosos del verano, para trepar y luego bañarse en el río. Se la pasa de maravilla.
