These are small localities near Bottegone; Piuvica and Bottegaccia are well-known and appreciated spots situated between Bottegone and Masiani, close to Pistoia. Like other areas I’ve told you about, these were once predominantly rural. In fact, Piuvica remains so today, consisting of little more than fields, a few houses, farming communities, and virtually no notable businesses—save for a home-style pizzeria lost in the middle of nowhere among the fields. I visited it once about fifteen years ago and can confirm it was truly in the middle of nowhere. However, we first visited Bottegaccia, a smaller hamlet also set in the countryside. Historically, it was nothing but fields as far as the eye could see, but because it is close to the city yet offers all the peace and beauty of the countryside, it has become a residential area highly prized for its privacy and quiet. There are many homes here now—some truly delightful, well-decorated, and painted in elegant yet simple styles, avoiding the pretentiousness of grand estates. There is also a small, simple oratory and various modern buildings. It is by no means a deserted place; there are amenities like a small pharmacy, a bar, a newsstand, and other conveniences that make it an attractive place to live—close to the city, yet in a quiet setting with all the essentials.

Buenas tardes, amigos del blog: ¿cómo están? Hoy los llevo de vuelta a unas aldeas rurales que visité hace algún tiempo. Se trata de pequeñas localidades cercanas a Bottegone; Piuvica y Bottegaccia son lugares muy conocidos y apreciados, situados entre Bottegone y Masiani, cerca de Pistoia. Al igual que otras zonas de las que les he hablado, estas eran antiguamente de carácter predominantemente rural. De hecho, Piuvica conserva ese carácter hoy en día, pues consta de poco más que campos, algunas casas y comunidades agrícolas, sin apenas negocios destacados, salvo una pizzería de estilo casero perdida en medio de la nada, entre los campos. La visité una vez hace unos quince años y puedo confirmar que estaba realmente en medio de la nada. Sin embargo, primero visitamos Bottegaccia, una aldea más pequeña también situada en el campo. Históricamente, no era más que campos hasta donde alcanzaba la vista, pero al estar cerca de la ciudad y ofrecer toda la paz y belleza del entorno rural, se ha convertido en una zona residencial muy valorada por su privacidad y tranquilidad. Ahora hay muchas viviendas aquí; algunas son realmente encantadoras, están bien decoradas y pintadas con estilos elegantes pero sencillos, evitando la ostentación de las grandes mansiones. Anyway, between Bottegaccia and Piuvica, there are several small hamlets that—honestly—all look alike. To be fair, these rural areas around Pistoia don't vary much; they all feature more or less the same types of fields and crops, and in some spots, even the houses look similar. Still, it is a lovely area for anyone who loves the countryside and charming homes. As you get closer to Piuvica, the houses become sparser; there are a few streams—I can't recall their names, though they might be tributaries of the Ombrone, one of Pistoia's main rivers—and far more fields. The style of the houses changes a bit, too: there are more renovated farmhouses and fewer quaint villas, along with some structures used by local farmers and nearby nurserymen. All in all, it is a beautiful, relaxing green area; there isn't much in the way of entertainment, but it is certainly a peaceful place. En fin, entre Bottegaccia y Piuvica hay varias aldeas pequeñas que, sinceramente, se parecen todas entre sí. Para ser justos, estas zonas rurales de los alrededores de Pistoia no varían mucho; todas presentan más o menos los mismos tipos de campos y cultivos y, en algunos puntos, hasta las casas se ven parecidas. Aun así, es una zona encantadora para quienes aman el campo y las casas con encanto.
