My husband had to have a checkup in his hometown of Montemurlo, where I have a good doctor, so I took the opportunity to visit a place I really like. I may have already mentioned it, but it's been a couple of years since I've been there, so today I decided to take photos and take a more detailed tour of the area. This church is near the center of Montemurlo. It's impossible not to notice because it's very large and has a truly unique appearance, with a large statue of Jesus on the front. This church has medieval origins but was rebuilt in the 1900s, as you can see from its fairly modern silhouette. The bell tower is probably the oldest part that still retains some connection to its origins. It's a very large and much-loved church, where they also do a lot of volunteer work, especially with the elderly and sick. In fact, this time the first thing I did was go and take a look at the bell tower which is separated from the church. It is very beautiful and surrounded by trees. If you look around you can see that the church is surrounded by small, typical houses of the area, very pretty, and also by a building from the 20th century.

Mi marido tenía que hacerse una revisión en su pueblo natal, Montemurlo, donde tengo un buen médico, así que aproveché para visitar un lugar que me gusta mucho. De hecho, esta vez lo primero que hice fue ir a ver el campanario, que está separado de la iglesia. Es muy hermosa y está rodeada de árboles. Si miras a tu alrededor, verás que la iglesia está rodeada de casitas típicas de la zona, muy bonitas, y también por un edificio del siglo XX.

A building that certainly has a long history, one I'm not familiar with, like many other buildings throughout Italy. It's beautiful to look at and, in my opinion, elegant. Around the church, there's a small garden with a sculpture dedicated to Monsignor Paolino Contardi, a local priest, very famous for his dedication to the education of the poor and less fortunate. One of the city's main squares is also dedicated to him, a prominent figure in the city, much loved and appreciated. The church, however, remains a sight to behold; years ago, I even managed to visit the interior, which contains several frescoes and very beautiful works of religious art. In any case, it's a church that fascinates me greatly; its architecture is different from other churches in the area, more modern, with more unusual curves and a mass unlike the small village churches. Montemurlo, though small, is a place full of beautiful things, architectural, artistic, and even culinary! This Church of the Sacred Heart will always remain close to my heart and even my mother-in-law often speaks to me about it because my father-in-law's funeral was held there, so behind this church there is also an emotional value as well as a Christian one.

Un edificio con una larga historia, que desconozco, como muchos otros en Italia. Es hermoso y, en mi opinión, elegante. Alrededor de la iglesia hay un pequeño jardín con una escultura dedicada a Monseñor Paolino Contardi, sacerdote local, famoso por su dedicación a la educación de los pobres y desfavorecidos. Una de las plazas principales de la ciudad también está dedicada a él, una figura prominente, muy querida y apreciada. La iglesia, sin embargo, sigue siendo un espectáculo digno de admirar; hace años, incluso pude visitar su interior, que contiene varios frescos y obras de arte religioso de gran belleza. Montemurlo, aunque pequeño, es un lugar lleno de belleza arquitectónica, artística e incluso culinaria. Esta Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón permanecerá siempre cerca de mi corazón e incluso mi suegra me habla a menudo de ella porque allí se celebró el funeral de mi suegro, así que detrás de esta iglesia hay también un valor emocional además del cristiano.
