Good evening, blog friends, how are you? I've been very busy these days with moving, family, and some trips I'll tell you about soon. Today I'm back with a post about my last trip to Terracina, a city with ancient origins, home to an ancient acropolis, overlooking the sea, and rich in beauty of every kind. A city that was Etruscan, Latin, and with strong Greek influences; in fact, mythology says this city was the home of the terrible sorceress Circe. Many myths and legends surround Terracina because it is a city rich in history. Roman influence was very strong and significant, and some remains are still visible today. The Roman period of this city was rich in historical events, such as the Samnite Wars and its reign under Cornelius Sulla. Furthermore, this city was home to many aristocratic families who traded with Greece, Sicily, and other nearby shores. Little by little, Christianity arrived, and with it the beginning of the Middle Ages. As you can see, the city still maintains a very medieval appearance. Even during this period, this city did not have an easy life, given its wealth, battles, conquests, Saracen raids, and urban changes.

Hoy vuelvo con una entrada sobre mi último viaje a Terracina, una ciudad de orígenes antiguos, hogar de una antigua acrópolis, con vistas al mar y rica en belleza. Una ciudad etrusca, latina y con fuertes influencias griegas; de hecho, la mitología dice que esta ciudad fue el hogar de la terrible hechicera Circe. In Terracina, everything is beautiful, including a small church that struck me with its staircase: the Church of Purgatory, built around 700 on the ruins of a medieval church dedicated to Saint Nicholas. The Church of Purgatory is famous for its zealous dedication to the burial of the dead, especially those abandoned and left without a family or burial place. It's a work of great charity. It's a small church, but very beautiful to see. Now I say goodbye to you friends and I will soon prepare another post about this trip of mine from a few years ago.
