Good afternoon, blog friends, how are you? I'm fine these days. Besides moving for house-related reasons, I've often been around Prato, even in slightly more remote areas, which I've really enjoyed. I'm basically getting to know many parts of this city. Today I'll take you to Maliseti, which is on the border between Prato and Montemurlo. These two areas are quite similar, but Maliseti is more populated and well-maintained than Montemurlo. Maliseti has an unlikely medieval origin, although today virtually nothing of that origin remains. The city is modern, made up of various residential areas full of palaces, houses, and businesses, but in ancient times it was home to a "spedale," a sort of medieval center where travelers and the poor were welcomed. Subsequently, this area changed completely thanks to the growth of Prato's textile industry. Almost the entire city and its hamlets became extensively industrialized, making it a populous and economically prosperous city, and Maliseti has not been exempt from this growth.

Maliseti saw significant growth, especially from the 1960s to the 1980s, becoming one of the city's wealthiest residential areas and home to a large prison and numerous industries. Today, it's a relatively quiet town where various sporting events are held (my husband has participated in several cycling races near this town) and where there's also a large Chinese community, as in almost all the areas near Prato Centrale. However, Maliseti isn't just a quiet town with colorful, well-maintained houses, beautiful buildings, parks, and shops; it also has a small rural area made up of large fields and clusters of houses that are very pleasant to look at. In this area, cities are often interspersed with rural areas, because it used to be all one large rural area until the 1960s, when people began building in the fields and expanding, when it was still possible to build on land cheaply and with few bureaucratic hassles. It's a very pretty area, and there's also a park nearby that's said to be very beautiful, which I hope to visit soon if I return to the area. From Maliseti we are also well connected to other hilly areas of Prato, including Figline, which I will tell you about soon, a very beautiful area.
Overall, I liked Maliseti, even though it's not among the most beautiful or interesting towns in the area. However, I found it to be a quiet and simple place with easy access to other nearby cities and towns. I'll say goodbye now, and I'll see you soon with another post on Prato and its surroundings.
