After visiting the beautiful village of Montale and a sumptuous Epiphany lunch, some of my cousins recommended we go to Tobbiana, a couple of villages above Montale. This is a village we actually know well because my mother-in-law lives there. It had finally snowed that day. I wasn't surprised, though, because while Montale is in the valley, Tobbiana is a small village nestled in the mountains bordering one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the area, Accerino, which I've visited several times, especially in the summer. The climate in Tobbiana is a bit harsher than in the city, and despite the wide roads, it's not pleasant to get to. There are many curves and hairpin bends, and in the snow, you have to drive slowly and carefully because there's a risk of finding the road icy. We set out from a rural area, but as we slowly climbed, we could already see that it had snowed. The fields were starting to turn white and frozen, the trees too, and the windshield of the car was swirling with water mixed with sleet. Proceeding slowly, however, we managed to reach the village without any major problems. In fact, we met quite a few people.

Después de visitar el hermoso pueblo de Montale y disfrutar de una suntuosa comida de Reyes, algunos primos me recomendaron ir a Tobbiana, un par de pueblos más arriba de Montale. Es un pueblo que conocemos bien porque mi suegra vive allí. Por fin nevó ese día. Sin embargo, no me sorprendió, porque mientras Montale está en el valle, Tobbiana es un pequeño pueblo enclavado en las montañas que bordea una de las reservas naturales más hermosas de la zona, Accerino, que he visitado varias veces, especialmente en verano. El clima en Tobbiana es un poco más duro que en la ciudad y, a pesar de las carreteras anchas, no es agradable llegar. Hay muchas curvas y horquillas, y con la nieve hay que conducir despacio y con cuidado porque existe el riesgo de encontrar la carretera helada. Several people from the surrounding areas had come to enjoy the first, slightly heavier snowfall in the area. However, it must have snowed even harder in the mountains we could see from afar, as the peaks were all blanketed in white. They were beautiful from afar, but if we'd had snow gear and snow chains, it would probably have been nice to see them up close. Seeing Tobbiana completely covered in snow was also nice. The road was surrounded by small snowdrifts, snow-covered fields, cars parked on the sides with snow on them, and then, of course, the town itself, which is truly a typical little Pistoia village, with all the houses and roofs covered in snow, as well as the gardens and squares. The worst affected was the main parking lot, where snowdrifts prevented some cars from exiting, especially since it was a surprise snowfall and no one was prepared. I was very happy to see some snow again after such a long time; in fact, we're planning a short trip to the mountains to visit a friend so we can see some snow again. Anyway, Tobbiana in the snow is much prettier and more pleasant than usual. Maybe it's because I have a weakness for snow-covered villages. See you soon, blogging friends, with another trip!

Varias personas de los alrededores habían venido a disfrutar de la primera nevada, ligeramente más intensa, en la zona. Sin embargo, debió de nevar aún más fuerte en las montañas que se veían a lo lejos, pues los picos estaban cubiertos de blanco. Eran preciosos desde lejos, pero si hubiéramos tenido equipo de nieve y cadenas, probablemente habría sido agradable verlos de cerca. Ver Tobbiana completamente cubierta de nieve también fue un placer. La carretera estaba rodeada de pequeños ventisqueros, campos nevados, coches aparcados a los lados con nieve y, por supuesto, el propio pueblo, que es un auténtico pueblecito típico de Pistoia, con todas las casas y tejados cubiertos de nieve, además de los jardines y las plazas. El aparcamiento principal fue el más afectado, donde los ventisqueros impidieron la salida de algunos coches, sobre todo porque fue una nevada inesperada y nadie estaba preparado. Me alegré mucho de volver a ver nieve después de tanto tiempo; de hecho, estamos planeando una escapada a la montaña para visitar a un amigo y poder volver a verla.
