Journey through the Montecatini countryside./ Viaje a través de la campiña de Montecatini.

Happy Saturday, blogging friends, how are you? It's scorching hot here in Montecatini, truly unbearable. However, today my husband and I had to take a tour of the Montecatini countryside for technical reasons. It's a place I've always been curious about, but I've never visited. Montecatini is a large city, so it's primarily urban, but since it's in the Nievole Valley, I knew there were little-known and less-explored countryside areas. To get to the countryside, we had to take several detours, and we were disappointed to notice that many people leave their garbage in hidden areas. Unfortunately, this is understandable, as the waste collection system in the municipalities of Pistoia and Montecatini is terrible, with few bins and a non-functioning waste sorting system. However, here we are talking about the countryside and valleys around Montecatini. In the past, in fact, around the city there was a large rural community made up of farmers, fields and businesses all linked to agriculture. Agriculture was in fact the main source of resources for the Nievole Valley and many cities are surrounded by rural areas that are now little frequented and semi-abandoned but once were the wealth and fortune of the neighboring cities. Unfortunately, today, with industrialization, rural areas are forgotten and left to themselves, often with serious neglect.

The Montecatini countryside is easily reached by car, but it truly feels like another world. Unlike the city, after just a few kilometers, you find yourself immersed in the countryside, even a little lost. It almost feels like you're somewhere else! Impressive! You're surrounded by fields of various crops, some of which are abandoned, with grass growing yellow and dry in this scorching heat. There are also a few green areas with trees and fields that are clearly more well-kept, but still secluded. There are many abandoned farmhouses and a few scattered houses, some of which are very pretty and well-kept. It's definitely a place for people who want great tranquility and a more peaceful life, but in the middle of nowhere! There's no business of any kind, not even a restaurant. It's a place that definitely requires a car and no need for nearby conveniences. I'm fascinated by this remote countryside, even though I'd never live there—it's too isolated! However, they remain fascinating places to visit and, if the heat were less torrid, also perfect places for peaceful walks.

Your comments on the countryside around Montecatini are very meaningful. I hope these places can one day be revitalized, both for their history and their natural beauty. I know that its mineral waters, renowned for centuries, have made the town a destination for health and wellness. Furthermore, from what I understand, in the 19th and early 20th centuries, Montecatini became a fashionable resort frequented by nobles and artists. Even just looking at the photos, you can tell it's hot right now.

It must have felt like stepping into a completely different world. I also agree that it's sad to see abandoned farms and waste in such beautiful surroundings.

Oh, it's like a far flung areas that is away from the city. It's pretty good too if someone like to avoid noise and just want to relax.
