Good afternoon, world travelers.

In this fourth and final part of my trip to the San Carlos Peninsula, I want to tell you a little about San Bernardo Beach, which is nothing more than a riverbank, so to speak, that forms part of San Carlos. It is said that this area was man-made and that it was previously covered by the sea and was a channel that served as an entrance and exit for large ships.

In this difficult-to-access area, we traveled by motorcycle along compact sandy roads where small salt flats could be seen among small sand dunes surrounded by abundant vegetation and animals such as donkeys, horses, goats, and birds that I couldn't identify from a distance as pigeons or some other species.

Then we came back to the beach, only to return to a sand-covered path where the rocks on either side formed breakwaters in some areas. More and more goats appeared on our way to the San Carlos Lighthouse in San Bernardo.

We arrived at a tower, where about five years ago the San Carlos Lighthouse stood, which no longer exists today. Our guide told us that the previous one collapsed and that this structure is currently preserved as a reference to what it once was, but that the current lighthouse is located right next to the Castle of San Carlos.

From here we had a beautiful view of the beach. The waves looked so calm. Although it is part of the Caribbean Sea, it does not have the lighter shades of blue found on other beaches in the country, but for me its color is perfect. This beach is suitable for swimmers, but due to its remoteness, most people do not go there.

What a great adventure I was able to experience in my beautiful state of Zulia, a reminder to enjoy every corner of my homeland and the natural spaces that surround us.
