The Magical Mucubají Lagoon | La mágica Laguna de Mucubají ⛰️

On our tour of magical Mérida, we made our way to Laguna de Mucubají, a spot within Sierra Nevada National Park that’s a major tourist attraction thanks to its natural beauty. It was my third time visiting, but Ricardo’s first, and when he asked me, “What places should we visit?” I didn’t hesitate to mention that Laguna de Mucubají was one of them.
The name Mucubají means "place of great water." It is shallow, and it is said that the lagoon is the source of a river that flows more than 200 km before finally reaching and emptying into the famous and well-known Orinoco River; this information was provided upon entering the lagoon.
Admission to Mucubají Lagoon costs $1.50. To get in, there was a line of cars stretching about 1 km or more, but since we were on a motorcycle, we basically didn’t have to wait in line. Some people left their cars outside Sierra Nevada National Park and decided to walk through the park to get closer to the lagoon.
Once we were inside the park, specifically on the path leading to Mucubají Lagoon, we could see the beautiful pine trees in the distance; they looked like a painting that God had painted especially for us. The tourists who had arrived by motorcycle, like us, were excitedly taking photos of their surroundings.
As we got closer, the landscape was filled with a pleasant, cool mist, and the number of tourists increased as we walked toward the pier; it seems that many people love the incredible landscapes that the state of Mérida offers us.

We took a trail to get a closer look at Mucubají Lagoon, and believe me, we were captivated by how beautiful it looked one side shrouded in mist while the other revealed the blue sky. It seemed almost unreal how the reflection painted parts of the lagoon in color, even though its actual hue is much darker. These are wonders that only nature can bestow upon us.
We were left wanting to explore the surrounding area more thoroughly, such as other nearby lagoons and waterfalls, but we were short on time by the end of that afternoon, we had to be in the city of Mérida, and it was still a few hours’ drive to get there. But I must say, it was an unforgettable part of our trip, and we’ll definitely come back here.

En nuestro recorrido por la mágica Mérida, llegamos hasta la Laguna de Mucubají, es un punto dentro del Parque Nacional Sierra Nevada de gran interés turístico debido a la belleza natural que le caracteriza, era mi tercera vez visitándola pero era la primera vez de Ricardo, cuando me preguntó: ¿Que lugares debíamos visitar? No dude en mencionar que la Laguna de Mucubají era uno de ellos.
El nombre de Mucubají significa: "sitio de agua grande" tiene una escasa profundidad, se dice que la laguna es el nacimiento de un río y su recorrido es de más de 200km hasta finalmente llegar y desembocar hasta el famoso y muy conocido río Orinoco, esta información fue proporcionada al ingresar a la misma.
La entrada a la Laguna de Mucubají tiene un costo de 1,50$, para poder entrar había una fila de autos de aproximadamente 1km o más pero como íbamos en moto básicamente no tuvimos que hacer fila, algunas personas dejaron el auto fuera del Parque Nacional Sierra Nevada y decidieron caminar sobre sus paisajes para ingresar y acercarse hasta la laguna.
Una vez que estuvimos dentro del parque específicamente en el camino que conduce hasta la Laguna de Mucubají podía verse a lo lejos los hermosos pinos, parecían una pintura que Dios pinto especiamente para nosotros, los turistas que llegaron en moto como nosotros estaban emocionados tomándose fotos en sus alrededores.
A medida que nos fuimos acercando, el paisaje se iba llenando de una agradable y fría nieblina, los turistas aumentaban a medida que caminábamos al muelle, tal parece que muchos aman los increíbles paisajes que nos regala el estado Mérida.

Nosotros tomamos un sendero para ver la Laguna de Mucubají más de cerca y créanme que estábamos enamorados de lo hermosa que se veía una parte cubierta de nieblina y por la otra podía verse el azul del cielo, parecía de mentira como el reflejo pintaba de color partes de la laguna, aunque su tono es mucho más oscuro, son maravillas que solo la naturaleza puede regalarnos.
Nos quedamos con ganas de explorar más a fondo los alrededores como otras lagunas cercanas y cascadas, pues estábamos cortos de tiempo, al final de esa tarde debíamos estar en al ciudad de Mérida y faltaban algunas horas de viaje para llegar hasta ese punto, pero algo si debo decir fue un lugar inolvidable de nuestro viaje y volveremos a venir hasta aquí.

That was a very nice tour, the place was very wonderful. The blue quite water is so good on the eyes. this a perfect place to visit.
