The first part of my visit to the Monument to Our Lady of Peace | Primera parte de mi visita al Monumento de la Virgen de la Paz 🕊

Hello, travelers. Today I’ll continue with my brief but very meaningful visit to the state of Trujillo. It was Holy Thursday, filled with new places, unforgettable ones, and some I hoped to return to with history, religion, and culture always playing a part in every visit.
After visiting the Sculpture of Saint José Gregorio Hernández, we continued on our way, accompanied the whole time by lush vegetation. It seemed as though we were gradually getting closer to the cloudy sky, where the Monument to the Virgin of Peace stands atop one of the highest mountains.
After a 15-minute drive on a quiet road, we arrived at the monument’s entrance, where we were given a ticket upon entering the parking lot and later paid 1,000 Bs, which is approximately more than $2.
We left the parking lot and still had about a 10-minute walk ahead of us to get there. Along the way, there are kiosks selling wooden crafts, creative paintings, strawberries and cream, popcorn, hot dogs, snacks, and sweets a wide variety to choose from in case you’re feeling peckish.
We arrived at the monument’s grounds; incidentally, a light mist covered part of the area. We went to the ticket booth to buy tickets, which cost the same as parking 1,000 bs per personbut first we read the entry rules and a bit of the history, while Ricardo stood in line to buy the tickets, I took a look at a small gallery where you can see photos of the construction of each part of the Virgin of Peace.
Finally, we entered. The Virgin was shrouded in a thick mist and could not be seen. First, we arrived at the Chapel of San Isidro Labrador, which features a unique, egg-shaped architecture. Its interior is a simple space designed for devotees seeking intimate communion with God through prayer. Inside are several images of the Virgin of Peace, San Isidro Labrador, and Saint José Gregorio Hernández. There, something really caught my attention: a mosaic on the ceiling featuring a dove. We couldn’t have expected anything less from a space where peace and tranquility fill the atmosphere.

Hola, viajeros. Hoy continuaré con mi corto pero muy significativo paso por el estado Trujillo, fue un Jueves Santo lleno de lugares nuevos, otros inolvidables y algunos a los que deseaba volver, siempre la historia, religión y cultura formando parte de cada visita.
Después de visitar la Escultura del Santo José Gregorio Hernández continuamos con nuestro camino, donde la abundante vegetación nos acompañó todo el tiempo, parecÃa que poco a poco estabamos más cerca del nublado cielo, donde en el pico de una de las montañas más altas se encuentra el Monumento de la Virgen de la Paz.
En 15 minutos luego de una ruta tranquila ya estábamos en la entrada del monumento, donde al ingresar al estacionamiento nos dieron un ticket para posteriormente cancelar 1.000Bs que vendrÃa siendo aproximadamente más de 2$.
Salimos del estacionamiento y aún debÃamos recorrer unos 10 minutos caminando para llegar, en el trayecto hay kioscos con ventas de artesanÃas en madera, cuadros creativos, fresas con crema, desgranados, perros calientes, snacks y golosinas, una gran variedad para elegir por si provoca algo.
Llegamos a las instalaciones del monumento, por cierto, la nieblina cubrÃa una parte del lugar, fuimos hasta la taquilla para adquirir las entradas que tenÃan el mismo costo del estacionamiento 1000bs por persona pero antes leÃmos las normas para entrar y un parte de la historia, mientras Ricardo hacÃa la fila para comprar los tickets, yo observaba un poco de una galeria donde puede verse cuadros con fotos de la construcción de cada parte de la Virgen de la Paz.
Finalmente ingresamos, la Virgen se encontraba cubierta de una densa nieblina y no podÃa verse, primero llegamos a la Capilla San Isidro Labrador con una arquitectura diferente y forma ovoide, su interior es un espacio sencillo, destinado para los devotos que quieran una Ãntima comunicación con Dios mediante la oración, dentro se encuentran algunas imágenes de la Virgen de la Paz, San Isidro Labrador y el Santo José Gregorio Hernández, allà algo llamo mucho mi atención un mosaico en el techo con una paloma, no podÃamos esperar menos de un espacio donde la paz y la tranquilidad esta en el ambiente.
Aún falta por mostrarles otros detalles de este recorrido y lo haré en una segunda parte, por lo pronto me despido.
