Travel Journal: Reims (France) – Start of our road trip to Bilbao!

It has been far too long since I last wrote an update for you. And yet, there is an incredible journey to tell you about that my girlfriend and I embarked on back in spring.

We went on a road trip from Paderborn all the way to Bilbao, with several stops planned along the way, of course.

Our first stop, after approximately 550 kilometers, was in Reims, France. On the way there, we stopped somewhere in Belgium for lunch. Unfortunately, I have no idea anymore where exactly we stopped or what the restaurant was called. However, the food was excellent!

In Reims, we had booked an Airbnb. It was extremely spacious and very relaxing.

After unpacking our things, we took a walk through the city and explored Reims. Here are some impressions for you! The city was beautiful and clean, and even though it is only about 550 kilometers from home, Reims has a completely different lifestyle and atmosphere.

What impressed us the most was the cathedral. We are not really interested in churches at all, but the colorful stained-glass windows were truly stunning.

Since Reims is located in the Champagne region, we treated ourselves to a glass of champagne with dinner. We also picked up some sushi and spent the evening watching a bit of Netflix. After all, we had another day of driving ahead of us.
