Travel Journal: Las Vegas (USA) – Playing Poker & Valley of Fire State Park
After a long night and plenty of much-needed sleep, I started the day with breakfast at Eggslut inside the Cosmopolitan. A friend had recommended the place to me, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. They serve fantastic egg and steak sandwiches at very reasonable prices—especially compared to many other places on the Strip. To put things into perspective, a simple cup of drip coffee in a hotel lobby can easily cost $12!
One thing I probably wouldn't do again is stay directly on the Strip. Next time, I'd book a hotel a little farther south in Las Vegas. It's usually more affordable, quieter, and getting around by car is much easier.

After breakfast, I headed to a casino away from the Strip. South Point Casino was hosting a $300 poker tournament. This was Day 1, with the goal of building as many chips as possible for Day 2, which would take place a few days later. Luckily, I managed to "bag" a healthy chip stack, so I'd be returning in a few days to continue the tournament.
To celebrate, I treated myself that evening to a delicious prime rib and a glass of red wine. Let's just say... don't ask how much that dinner cost in Las Vegas!
The next morning, I made my way to Caesars Palace to pick up my rental car. From there, I drove straight to Valley of Fire State Park. I honestly don't need to say much about this place—the photos speak for themselves!
After the trip, I had dinner at Beer Park. Compared to many restaurants on the Strip, the prices here are still quite reasonable, and the outdoor seating is fantastic. Best of all, you get an incredible view of the famous Bellagio fountains while you eat.
Later that evening, I played a $250 WSOP tournament. Walking through the enormous tournament halls filled with hundreds of poker tables was an incredible experience in itself. Unfortunately, the tournament didn't go my way, and I was eliminated without any success.
