San Sebastian is the most elegant city in Spain

This is the city with the most expensive real estate in Spain. And it is not surprising. It is fabulous here: beaches with clear water, like from tourist posters, exquisite architecture, lots of greenery.

In the beautiful city of San Sebastian, there's a famous sculpture that's a must-see - it's called "The Crest of the Wind" and it's situated on the promenade, right at the foot of Mount Igeldo. This amazing piece of art is made up of three huge steel figures that have been carved into the rocks on the ocean shore. The sculptor, Eduardo Chillida, designed them to look like they're trying to catch the wind, which is really cool. When you look at the sculpture, it seems like the steel figures are talking to the wind and the sea waves - it's like they're having a conversation. The way it's built is really clever, making it seem like the figures are interacting with the natural surroundings.

The floor of this place has holes in it, which makes a really cool sound. When big waves come in and go through the tunnels under the sculpture, the air gets pushed out really fast through these holes, making a loud roaring noise, kind of like the ocean sighing. It's so powerful that it shoots up big fountains of water into the air.

The Basilica of Santa Maria del Coro is a real showstopper - it's the oldest church in the city and a total gem. Built way back in the 18th century, this beautiful building is a perfect example of Baroque style, and it's situated on the site of an ancient temple, which is pretty cool. The facade is incredibly ornate, with intricate stone carvings that look like lace, and it's topped off with two tall towers that make a big impact. And the best part is, it's right in the heart of the Old Town, so you can't miss it - the facade faces straight out onto one of the main streets, making it a really striking sight.

The Royal Palace of Miramar is also situated here, a stunning structure built in the late 19th century as a summer retreat for Queen Maria Cristina. What's interesting about this palace is that it was designed in the style of English cottages, which is quite unique. The gardens are beautifully maintained, and from the palace, you can see the entire Bay of La Concha stretched out before you - the view is really picturesque. It's a great spot to take in the scenery and appreciate the beauty of the area. The palace itself is a notable example of the Spanish monarchs' summer residences, and its location is just perfect for enjoying the surroundings.

Atop Mount Urgul stands a colossal statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, towering over twenty meters high. It was erected in the mid-20th century, strategically positioned on the ancient fortress of La Mota. This iconic monument is visible from nearly every vantage point in the city. One of the most ideal spots to take in the views is from the observation deck located at the foot of the statue, offering a unique perspective on the surrounding landscape. The statue's prominent location makes it a recognizable landmark, and its sheer size is a testament to its significance. As you gaze out from the observation deck, the city unfolds below, with the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus watching over it, a constant and reassuring presence.

-This statue is of Jesus, the son of Mary, - said Erica with a smile.

Her eyes were fixed on the figure, a hint of her Catholic school education evident in her words.

Generally, individuals who have a taste for the finer things in life and the financial resources to support it tend to opt for this place to unwind.
