Salzburg Christkindl Markt Deu/Eng

Hallo liebe Community,
ich hoffe Ihr habt schöne Weihnachten verbracht. Heute geht es weiter mit meinem Bericht zur Salzburger Altstadt. Nachdem wir also mit der Zahnradbahn wieder den Berg hinab gefahren waren, wollten wir nun auch den größten Salzburger Weihnachtsmarkt erkunden, den Christkindls Markt am Dom.

Auch hier war alles weihnachtlich angestrahlt und der der Dom in die schönsten Farben getaucht. Die Stände waren hier natürlich viel größer und auch die besucheranzahl deutlich höher als oben auf der Festung. Aber auch hier kam weihnachtliche Stimmung auf. Wir schlenderten die Stände entlang und ich kaufte schönes Kupfergefäß, so eine Art Kännchen für die Duftöle auf unserem Kaminofen Zuhause. Selbstverständlich nahmen wir auch ein oder zwei Duftöle gleich mit, wie Bratapfel oder Orangenpunsch. Sicher sehr schön als Düfte in der Weihnachtszeit.

Wir hatten Glück und konnten auch dem Konzert eine Kinderchores direkt auf den Stufen zum Dom lauschen. Sie sangen Weihnachtlieder und die Menge wie auch wir waren sehr angetan. Und was darf auf einem österreichischen Weihnachtsmarkt sicher nicht fehlen? Ein Kaiserschmarrn. Eines meiner Lieblingsgerichte und dies konnte ich mir nicht entgehen lassen, auch wenn ich von den Salzburger Nockerln noch richtig satt war. Aber egal, der musste noch rein :-)

Danach gingen wir durch die engen und festlich geschmückten Gassen der Altstadt wieder hinüber in Richtung Fluss und über die Brücke zu unserer Bushaltestelle, um wieder zum Hotel zu fahren. Nach etlichen Stunden im Freien, waren wir froh uns bald aufwärmen zu können. Von der schön erleuchteten Brücke hatten wir dann nochmal einen ganz tollen Blick auf das nächtliche Salzburg und die hoch oben thronende Festung. So neigte sich ein perfekter Tag dem Ende entgegen und wir freuten uns schon auf die Dinge, die wir am nächsten Tag geplant hatten. Dazu aber mehr beim nächsten Mal.

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Today I'm continuing my report on Salzburg's Old Town. After taking the cogwheel train back down the mountain, we wanted to explore Salzburg's largest Christmas market, the Christkindls Market at the Cathedral.

Here, too, everything was illuminated for Christmas, and the cathedral was bathed in the most beautiful colors. The stalls were, of course, much larger, and the number of visitors was significantly higher than up at the fortress. But even here, a festive Christmas atmosphere prevailed. We strolled along the stalls, and I bought a lovely copper container, a kind of pitcher for the scented oils on our wood-burning stove at home. Naturally, we also picked up a scented oil or two, like baked apple and orange punch. They'll certainly be lovely fragrances during the Christmas season.

We were lucky enough to catch a children's choir concert right on the steps of the cathedral. They sang Christmas carols, and the crowd, including us, was very impressed. And what's a must-have at any Austrian Christmas market? Kaiserschmarrn! One of my favorite dishes, and I simply couldn't resist it, even though I was still quite full from the Salzburger Nockerln. But no matter, I had to have it :-)

Afterwards, we strolled through the narrow, festively decorated streets of the old town back towards the river and across the bridge to our bus stop to return to the hotel. After several hours outdoors, we were happy to warm up soon. From the beautifully illuminated bridge, we had another fantastic view of Salzburg at night and the fortress perched high above. And so, a perfect day drew to a close, and we were already looking forward to the things we had planned for the next day. More on that next time.
