Brasil - A ride on the Yup Star Foz giant Ferris wheel: aerial views of the city and the Integration Bridge. / Paseo en la rueda gigante Yup Star Foz: vistas aéreas de la ciudad y del Puente de la Integración. 😃❤️

One of the outings I didn’t want to miss during my stay in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, was a ride on the impressive Ferris wheel. We had seen the wheel on our first day exploring the city, but we didn’t ride it then because it was already getting late. We planned our visit for a later day, conveniently taking advantage of a special offer that brought the ticket down to just $5, compared to the regular price of $20. I love a good bargain, and using one to go check out this tourist attraction was even better 😃.

Uno de los paseos que no me quería perder durante mi estadía en Foz de Iguazú, Brasil, era en de la impresionante Rueda Gigante. Habíamos visto esta rueda en nuestro primer día paseando por la ciudad, pero no nos subimos en esa oportunidad porque ya era tarde. Planificamos nuestra visita para un día posterior, convenientemente con una oferta en el precio, que nos dejó el ticket a solo $5 cuando el precio regular era $20. Las buenas ofertas me encantan, y usarla para ir a conocer este atractivo turístico también 😃.

This Ferris wheel is located a little outside the city of Foz, so we had to get there by Uber. The day we decided to go was the same day we visited the waterfalls on the Brazilian side. Since this park is relatively small and exploring it takes about half a day, we added this outing to our itinerary as well. Unfortunately, we arrived a little too late to catch the sunset, but the night was still beautiful and clear enough to enjoy the city from above.

Esta rueda se ubica algo en las afueras de la ciudad de Foz, por lo que tuvimos que llegar ahí en Uber. El día que decidimos ir a pasear fue el mismo día que vimos las Cataratas del lado brasilero: como este parque es algo pequeño y recorrerlo te lleva la mitad del día, agregamos este paseo más a nuestro itinerario. Lamentablemente, se nos hizo un poco tarde para ver el atardecer, pero igualmente la noche estaba hermosa y despejada como para ver la ciudad desde arriba.

It had been years since my dad and I had ridden a Ferris wheel, so we were both excited about it. According to what we found online, this one stands 88 meters tall, so we would be high enough to see all the surrounding area. We had bought our tickets online, so we went straight in. Perhaps because it was a weekday, there weren’t too many people, so we had a peaceful ride, and the Ferris wheel looked great all lit up.

Hace años que mi papá y yo no nos subíamos a una rueda de la fortuna, así que ambos estábamos emocionados por eso. De acuerdo a internet, esta rueda tiene un alto de 88 metros, así que estaríamos lo suficientemente alto como para ver todos los alrededores. Obtuvimos nuestras entradas por internet, así que pasamos directo: quizás por ser día de semana no había tanta gente, por lo que tuvimos un paseo tranquilo y la rueda se veía genial toda iluminada.

From the giant Ferris wheel, you can see the city of Foz do Iguaçu, as well as the territories of Argentina and Paraguay, since it is located very close to the Triple Frontier. Besides the city of Foz, the other major illuminated landmark is the Integration Bridge, a modern engineering project that connects Paraguay and Brazil. The bridge was built to ease the flow of heavy traffic between the two countries, although at the time of our visit, it had not yet been fully opened to traffic.

Desde la rueda gigante se puede observar la ciudad de Foz de Iguazú, el territorio de Argentina y el de Paraguay también, ya que está ubicada muy cerca de la triple frontera. Además de la ciudad de Foz, el otro gran monumento iluminado es el Puente de la Integración, una obra de ingeniería moderna que conecta Paraguay con Brasil. Este puente se hizo para aliviar el paso de tránsito pesado entre ambos países, aunque para el momento de nuestra visita, aún no estaba habilitado del todo.

During my two previous visits to the waterfalls area, I had the chance to see this giant Ferris wheel from a distance while exploring Puerto Iguazú, Argentina. Who would have thought that a few years later, I’d be able to ride it and see the whole landscape from up high? My dad and I had a great time on the Ferris wheel, and since neither of us is afraid of heights, we both really enjoyed it. The only “bad” thing about this place was that it was so far away that there was nowhere to go for food, so afterward, we had to take an Uber back to downtown, hoping there would still be somewhere open to eat. It had been a long day of exploring from one end to the other, and we definitely needed to recharge our batteries ❤️.

En mis dos visitas anteriores a la zona de las cataratas, había tenido la oportunidad de ver esta rueda gigante desde lejos, mientras estaba paseando por Puerto Iguazú, Argentina. Quien iba a decir que unos años después iba a poder subirme a ella y ver todo el paisaje desde lo alto. Mi papá y yo tuvimos un buen momento en este paseo en la rueda gigante, y como ninguno le tiene miedo a las alturas, ambos lo disfrutamos. Lo único "malo" de este lugar, era que está tan alejado que no había ningún lugar para ir a comer, así que después de eso, tuvimos que volver en Uber al centro, rogando que haya algún local de comida abierto. Había sido un largo día paseando de una punta a la otra, y definitivamente, ya era hora de recargar energías ❤️.
