Argentina - In search of the perfect spot for my Worldmappin sticker: I hope it’s still there. / En busca del lugar perfecto para mi sticker de Worldmappin: espero que aún siga ahí. 😅❤️

Finding a good place to leave my Worldmappin sticker during my time in the province of Formosa was not easy. Just like what happened to me in Chaco, the capital city looked spotless and well kept—so much so that it didn’t feel right to stick a sticker anywhere. But I owe it to my blog, so I left it anyway, assuming it wouldn’t take long for someone to remove it, but knowing that at least I walked away with a photo as a souvenir ❤️.

Encontrar un buen lugar para dejar mi sticker de Worldmappin durante mi paso por la provincia de Formosa no fue muy fácil. Al igual que lo que me pasó en Chaco, la ciudad capital de este lugar se veía impoluta y prolija, tanto que no daban ganas de pegar un sticker en ningún lugar. Pero me debo a mi blog así que lo dejé de todos modos, suponiendo que no tardarían mucho en sacarlo de ahí, pero sabiendo que por lo menos me llevé una foto de recuerdo ❤️.

During my walks in the previous days, I had noticed that this city was extremely clean, with good maintenance by the municipal authorities. That made everything look brand new in every corner. Since this isn’t a city heavily visited by tourists from all over, it was hard to find “the spot” to leave a sticker like you usually can in other places. They often use a representative traffic sign or a signboard to cover with stickers, but here there was nothing like that.

En mis paseos de los días anteriores había notado que esta ciudad era super limpia, con un buen mantenimiento por parte de las autoridades municipales. Eso hacía que todo se viera como nuevo en cada rincón. Como esta no es una ciudad muy visitada por los turistas de todas partes, era raro encontrar "el lugar" para dejar un sticker como suele haber en otros lugares. Generalmente toman alguna señal de tránsito representativa o un cartel para llenarlo de marcas, pero acá no había nada de eso.

Since I knew my goal that day was to leave my sticker somewhere—even if it was just for the photo—I looked for a spot a bit away from people and, above all, from police presence. This capital city of Formosa borders our neighboring country, Paraguay, so everything is more than well monitored. I also chose the strategic siesta hour to do this, the time of day when there would likely be very few people around.

Como sabía que mi objetivo de ese día era dejar mi sticker en algún lado aunque fuera para la foto, busqué un lugar un poco alejado de la gente y más que nada, de la presencia policial. Esta ciudad capital de Formosa linda con nuestro país vecino Paraguay, por lo que todo está más que cuidado. También elegí la estratégica hora de la siesta para ir a hacer esto, momento del día en el que seguramente habría poca gente dando vueltas.

If you want to travel from Formosa, one of the northernmost points of Argentina, to Alberdi, a city in southern Paraguay, you can do so from this very spot. From what I was told, it takes less than half an hour to cross the Paraguay River and reach the other side. Of course, you have to complete the usual immigration procedures as at any border, but it’s quite simple to get there. During my walk, I saw quite a few people coming and going on the small boat.

Si deseas ir desde Formosa, uno de los extremos norte de Argentina, hasta Alberdi, una ciudad en el sur de Paraguay, podes hacerlo desde este punto. Por lo que me comentaron, toma menos de media hora cruzar el Río Paraguay hasta llegar al otro lado. Por supuesto, hay que hacer los trámites migratorios como en cualquier frontera, pero es bastante sencillo llegar hasta allá. En el tiempo de mi paseo vi bastante gente irse y volver en el pequeño barquito.

Going back to my sticker, well, I still couldn’t find the perfect spot. I felt that wherever I placed it, it would draw attention, and I also didn’t want a police officer to see me and say something for “vandalizing” the place. I walked quite a bit along the riverfront until I found a spot where there was no one around, and I quickly stuck my sticker on, took a few photos, and ran off. I almost felt like I was committing a crime doing that, so I definitely had my dose of adrenaline. Do you think it turned out well?

Volviendo a lo de mi sticker, bueno, seguía sin encontrar el lugar perfecto. Sentía que en cualquier lugar que lo pusiera llamaría la atención, y tampoco quería que un policía me viera y me dijera algo por "vandalizar" el lugar. Caminé bastante por la costanera hasta encontrar un lugar en el que justo no había nadie, y rápido pegué mi sticker, saqué algunas fotos y hui. Casi sentí que estuviese cometiendo un delito haciendo eso, así que la adrenalina no me faltó. ¿Piensan que quedó bien?

Considering what the surroundings of this place are like—and how noticeable something stuck onto a post along the riverfront would be—I’m almost sure the sticker didn’t last very long. Still, I’m happy that I managed to put it up and take a photo as a keepsake. That little mark represents the completion of province 22 out of 23 on my journey across Argentina, so it’s an unforgettable detail. I looked at the map and couldn’t believe how far I had come—I will always be grateful for that ❤️.

Teniendo en cuenta cómo son los alrededores de este lugar, y lo mucho que se notaba algo pegado en un poste de la costanera, estoy casi segura de que el sticker no habrá durado mucho. Sin embargo, estoy contenta por haber logrado pegarlo y llevarme una foto de recuerdo. Esta marca significa la materialización de la provincia 22 de 23 en mi lista de paseo por Argentina, así que es un detalle inolvidable. Miraba el mapa y no podía creer lo lejos que había llegado: siempre voy a estar agradecida por eso ❤️.
