Argentina - A short trip into the interior of Corrientes: visiting the peaceful town of Santa Ana. / Un pequeño paseo al interior de Corrientes: visitando el tranquilo pueblo de Santa Ana. 😃❤️

One thing I like to do when I’m traveling somewhere interesting is to explore a bit beyond the city center. Luckily, during my stay in Corrientes, Gabi and Luis arranged for one of their uncles to take us on a drive, with the goal of seeing some of the surrounding areas. Along the way, we made it to Santa Ana, a small town where tranquility prevailed, yet it was still quite picturesque, perfect for getting some great photos for our Hive pages 😃.

Algo que me gusta hacer cuando estoy de viaje en algún lugar interesante, es pasear un poco más allá del centro de la ciudad. Por suerte, durante mi estadía en Corrientes, Gabi y Luis consiguieron que un tío de ellos pudiera llevarnos a pasear en su auto, con el objetivo de ver un poco los alrededores de la ciudad. En nuestro camino, pudimos llegar hasta Santa Ana, un pequeño pueblo en donde reinaba la tranquilidad, pero no por eso dejaba de ser pintoresco, perfecto para obtener unas buenas fotos para nuestras páginas de Hive 😃.

On the day we planned to go for a drive with their uncle, we left very early to make the most of the afternoon. First, we traveled 20 km to the town of Santa Ana, where we made our first stop to explore the area a bit. It was a very quiet neighborhood, with low, old houses, but with a very clean atmosphere. We didn’t come across anyone along the way—it almost felt like a ghost town.

El día que planeamos pasear con el tío en su auto, salimos muy temprano para poder aprovechar bien toda la tarde. En primer lugar, viajamos 20 km hasta el pueblo de Santa Ana, en donde hicimos una primera parada para recorrer un poco el lugar. Se trataba de barrio muy tranquilo y de casas bajas y antiguas, pero con un ambiente muy limpio. No nos cruzamos a nadie en nuestro paso: casi parecía un pueblo fantasma.

The houses in the town of Santa Ana were typical of the colonial era, and around the main square you could find a church, a cultural center, and a school. Getting away from the noise of the city to find the calm of a town like this was very rewarding. Also, seeing the contrast between the tall buildings in the city center and the small houses in this place was a great way to experience two different sides of Corrientes.

Las casas del pueblo de Santa Ana eran típicas de la época colonial, y en los alrededores de la plaza principal se podían encontrar una iglesia, una casa de la cultura y una escuela. Alejarse un poco del ruido de la ciudad para encontrar la calma de un pueblo como este fue muy gratificante. Además, ver el contraste de los edificios altos del centro, con las casas pequeñas de este lugar fue bueno para tener dos postales diferentes de Corrientes.

The square was also very well maintained, with playground equipment in good condition and well-preserved monuments. It was the typical small-town square, where in the afternoons more people probably gather to drink mate. At the time of our visit, everything was quiet, but that allowed us to have the whole square to ourselves. Of course, we all took photos for our blogs 😃.

La plaza también estaba muy bien conservada, con juegos en bien estado y monumentos bien conservados. Esta era la típica plaza de pueblo chico, en donde seguramente por las tardes quizás se acerca más gente a tomar mates. Para el momento de nuestra visita, todo era silencio, pero eso nos permitió tener toda la plaza para nosotros. Por supuesto todos sacamos fotos para nuestros blogs 😃.

Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful parts of this town was the Church of Santa Ana. It was a very small but well-kept local church. Luckily for us, the doors were open, so we were able to go inside and see what it was like. Inside, it was also very lovely and well maintained—it’s clear that the people who live here love their town and take good care of everything. I was glad to have been able to see it up close.

Sin dudas, una de las partes más lindas de este pueblo fue la Iglesia de Santa Ana. Se trataba de una muy pequeña, pero bien cuidada, iglesia local. Para nuestra suerte, las puertas estaban abiertas así que pudimos entrar a ver cómo era. Adentro también era muy linda y bien cuidada: se nota que las personas que viven acá aman su lugar y tienen todo en buenas condiciones. Me alegré por haber podido ver un poco más de cerca.

After walking around the town’s streets for a while, we continued our route a bit further. We had planned a picnic for that day, but we still had some traveling to do before seeing everything we had in mind. Having their uncle and his car was great, because he kindly took us around while sharing interesting facts about the places we passed. I really enjoyed spending the day with them and how much they committed to making my visit to the province of Corrientes special ❤️.

Después de dar algunas vueltas por las calles del pueblo, continuamos nuestra ruta un poco más allá. Teníamos preparado un picnic para ese día, pero todavía faltaba viajar un poco más para poder ver todo lo que teníamos planeado. Contar con el tío y su vehículo fue genial, porque él amablemente nos llevó a pasear, al mismo tiempo que nos iba contando curiosidades de los lugares que veíamos. Me gustó mucho haber compartido el día con ellos y que se hayan comprometido tanto conmigo y mi visita a la provincia de Corrientes ❤️.
