After several months of not being able to coordinate our schedules, all the planets finally aligned and my friends and I were able to go on another trip together. This time we didn’t travel very far or stay for several days, but what really matters is that we got to enjoy a lovely Sunday getaway. We had been talking for quite a while about visiting the Dolores Thermal Park, which is about 200 km from home, and we found the perfect option with a company that offers round-trip transportation in the same day. Everything was already organized, so all we had to do was show up and enjoy the park’s thermal pools 😃.

Después de varios meses de no poder coordinar nuestros horarios con mis amigas, finalmente todos los planetas se alinearon para que podamos hacer un nuevo paseo. Esta vez no nos fuimos tantos días ni tan lejos, pero lo que cuenta es que pudimos viajar juntas en un lindo viaje de domingo. Hace bastante tiempo habíamos propuesto conocer el Parque Termal de Dolores, uno que queda a 200 km de casa, y encontramos la opción perfecta con una empresa que te lleva y trae en el día. Ya todo estaba organizado, así que solo tuvimos que ir y disfrutar de las piletas del parque 😃.

If you don’t have much time to travel far, there are several companies in Buenos Aires that organize one-day tours or even weekend getaways with one overnight stay. This type of express trip is a great option when you want to visit a nearby destination but don’t have your own vehicle. Most of these companies offer day trips to thermal parks in the interior of Buenos Aires Province or in the neighboring province of Entre Ríos, as well as visits to small towns or traditional countryside experiences. This time, my friends and I decided to visit the Dolores Thermal Park.

Si no tenes mucho tiempo para viajar tan lejos, en Buenos Aires existen varias empresas que organizan tours de un día o incluso de sábado y domingo con una noche de estadía. Esta opción de viaje express se vuelve muy útil cuando queres visitar un lugar cercano y no tenes vehículo propio. La mayoría de estas empresas ofrecen llevarte a parques termales en el interior de la provincia, o en la provincia vecina de Entre Ríos, además de la posibilidad de visitar otros pueblos o hacer días de campo. En esta oportunidad, mis amigas y yo decidimos ir a visitar las Termas de Dolores.

This trip was organized with a long-distance coach that provided round-trip transportation to the park. We paid about 45,000 ARS (around $30 USD) for the transfer, which already included admission to the thermal park. The price was actually very reasonable, considering it covered a two-hour ride each way. The bus made several stops along the route to pick up passengers. We boarded at Cruce Varela at 6:30 AM, and by 8:30 AM we were already at the park. Needless to say, we spent almost the entire journey sleeping 😅.

Este viaje consistió en un micro de larga distancia que organizó un paseo ida y vuelta hasta el parque. Pagamos unos 45.000 ARS ($30) por ese traslado que ya tenía la entrada al parque incluida. Este precio es realmente muy competitivo, considerando que son dos horas de ida y otras dos horas de vuelta hasta el punto de partida. El bus tenía varias paradas en las que fue recolectando pasajeros: nosotras nos subimos en el Cruce Varela a las 6.30 AM y para las 8.30 AM ya estábamos en el parque. De más está decir que todo ese trayecto lo hicimos durmiendo 😅.

The park opened at 9 AM, so we had a little time to walk around the shopping area near the entrance. There were several stores selling clothes—mainly swimsuits and towels, of course—as well as food, toys for children, and even phone accessories. Many bus tour companies arrive at this place, but we were lucky enough to be among the first, so when we entered we were able to choose a great table with an umbrella very close to the main pool, and that became our spot for the whole day.

El parque abría a las 9 AM, así que tuvimos un poco de tiempo para recorrer el centro comercial de la entrada. En él habían varias tiendas que venden ropa, principalmente trajes de baño y toallas obviamente, comida, juegos para niños y hasta accesorios de celulares. Muchas empresas de viaje en micro llegan a este lugar, pero nosotros tuvimos la suerte de ser los primeros, así que cuando entramos pudimos elegir una buena mesa con sombrilla muy cerca de la pileta principal y ahí nos quedamos todo el día.

The park was beautiful, and it was easy to see that it was very well maintained. Before getting into the pool, I went for a walk around the grounds to see what else the park had to offer. There was a large restaurant, a pond, and several hotels with private pools for guests who chose to stay overnight. That whole area felt very elegant, with a peaceful atmosphere far away from the bustle of the public pools. It also seemed like a great option for a weekend getaway with an overnight stay, although I imagine that spending a night there isn’t exactly cheap.

El parque era muy hermoso y se notaba que estaba bien cuidado. Antes de meterme a la pileta, salí a dar una vuelta por los alrededores para ver qué más había. En él se puede encontrar un gran restaurante, un estanque y varios hoteles con piletas privadas para las personas que deciden pasar la noche ahí. Toda esa parte era muy elegante, en un entorno tranquilo y alejado del bullicio de las piletas más públicas. Esta también era una buena opción de paseo de fin de semana con estadía, aunque supongo que una noche ahí no debe ser tan barata.

As for the area we had access to, it consisted of four huge pools: two outdoor pools with cold water and two indoor pools with hot thermal water. There was also a shallow warm-water pool exclusively for children, surrounded by playground equipment. This thermal park is the smallest one I've visited so far, but it definitely served its purpose well. There was even an aqua dance class, which I always enjoy watching and joining. My friends say those activities are for older people, but I have way too much fun participating in them.

En cuanto al sector que teníamos acceso nosotros, este se trataba de cuatro piletas enormes, dos de agua fría en el exterior y otras dos techadas de agua caliente. También había una pileta con agua tibia exclusiva para niños, en donde el nivel era bajo y estaba rodeada de juegos. Este parque termal es el más pequeño de todos los que visité hasta ahora, pero cumplía muy bien su función. También hubo una clase de aqua dance que siempre me gusta ver y participar. Mis amigas dicen que esto es para la gente mayor, pero yo me divierto demás con estas actividades.

Although you're allowed to bring your own food and drinks into the park—and that's what most people do—there is also a small buffet that serves simple meals for the day. Other services available inside the park include towel, umbrella, and sun lounger rentals, as well as relaxing spa-style massages. Overall, I found the park to be very complete and to have a wonderfully family-friendly atmosphere. Everyone was very respectful, and although loud speakers weren't allowed, people could still play music from their phones to enjoy with their group. There were no disturbances at all, and we had an amazing day, made even better by the beautiful spring weather that was on our side.

Si bien está permitido llevar comida y bebidas al parque y es lo que la mayoría de la gente hace, también existe un pequeño buffet con comidas básicas para pasar el día. Otros servicios dentro del parque es el de alquiler de toallas, sombrillas y reposeras, y el de masajes relajantes estilo spa. Todo este parque me pareció muy completo y con un ambiente muy familiar. Todos eran muy respetuosos y si bien no se podía escuchar música con parlantes fuertes, se podía poner con los celulares para compartir el momento con tu grupo de acompañantes. No hubo ningún disturbio y pasamos un día increíble, además del gran clima que jugó a nuestro favor con un perfecto día primaveral.

In total, the trip started at 6:30 AM, and we got back home around 10 PM. The return journey from the park was a bit slower because the highway is the same one that leads to Mar del Plata, one of the main coastal cities in Buenos Aires Province, and many people head back home from their weekend getaway on Sunday evenings. This day tour allowed us to enjoy the park from the moment it opened until it closed, so it was a very full day at a really affordable price. I truly enjoyed this experience with my friends, and I hope we won’t have to wait so long before planning the next one ❤️.

En total, el paseo empezó a las 6.30 AM y volvimos a casa alrededor de las 10 PM. La vuelta del parque fue un poco más lenta porque la ruta es la misma que te lleva a Mar del Plata, una de las principales ciudades costeras de Buenos Aires, y mucha gente vuelve de su fin de semana un domingo a esa hora. Este day tour nos permitió aprovechar el parque desde que abrió hasta que cerró, así que fue un día más que completo y por un precio muy bajo. Disfruté mucho de esta experiencia con amigas y espero que no tardemos tanto en repetir la próxima ❤️.
