ZUMAIA - some of you probably already know this is a place that’s truly close to my heart. 💛 One of my favourite spots along the road — always peaceful, always calm, always beautifull. If you’ve been following my profile for a while, you already know how much I adore this place. Because it is not the first time Zumaia appears in my posts… and it definitely won’t be the last. 😉

Zumaia is a small coastal town in northern Spain, located in the Basque Country. It’s mostly known for its spectacular cliffs and geological formations — the famous flysch, layers of rock that stretch into the sea like pages of Earth’s history. They are a dream for geologists and photographers alike (like me 😀 )

ZUMAIA – niektórzy z Was pewnie już wiedzą, że to miejsce jest naprawdę bliskie mojemu sercu. 💛
Jedno z moich ulubionych miejsc na trasie — zawsze spokojne, ciche, po prostu piękne.
Jeśli zatem śledzisz mój profil od jakiegoś czasu, to na pewno już wiesz, jak bardzo uwielbiam to miejsce.
Bo to nie pierwszy raz, kiedy Zumaia pojawia się w moich postach… i z pewnością nie ostatni. 😉

Zumaia to niewielkie nadmorskie miasteczko w północnej Hiszpanii, położone w Kraju Basków.
Znane jest przede wszystkim ze swoich spektakularnych klifów i formacji geologicznych — słynnego flyscha, czyli warstw skał ciągnących się w morze niczym strony historii Ziemi.
To prawdziwe marzenie dla geologów i fotografów (takich jak ja 😀)

Definitely worth checking out if you love rugged coastlines!

But Zumaia is more than just rocks.

Here are a few things you might not know:

– The town sits at the meeting point of two rivers, the Urola and the Narrondo, which makes for a uniquely shaped coastline.

– Zumaia was one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones

– It’s part of the Basque Coast Geopark, recognized by UNESCO for its geological importance.

– The local church, San Pedro, built in the 13th century, is a great example of Basque Gothic architecture — simple, strong and full of presence.

– And if you ever walk around the harbor or through the narrow old streets… you’ll know exactly why I fell in love with this place. 🤩

So today I’m wondering — am I the only one who’s a full-on Zumaia fan?

I’ve only managed to be there a few times so far, but I’m truly hoping there will be many more visits in the future. Luckily my truck route often takes me close to Zumaia… so I believe it's just a matter of time. 🙂 Because there is still so much I want to explore — places that already look stunning on Google Maps and I can't wait to experience them for real. 🤩

Ale Zumaia to coś więcej niż tylko skały.
Oto kilka rzeczy, których być może jeszcze o niej nie wiedzieliście:

– Miasteczko leży w miejscu, gdzie spotykają się dwie rzeki: Urola i Narrondo, co nadaje wybrzeżu wyjątkowy kształt.
– Zumaia była jednym z planów zdjęciowych do Gry o Tron.
– Jest częścią Geoparku Wybrzeża Baskijskiego, uznanego przez UNESCO za obszar o ogromnym znaczeniu geologicznym.
– Tutejszy kościół San Pedro, wybudowany w XIII wieku, to doskonały przykład baskijskiej architektury gotyckiej — prostej, solidnej i pełnej charakteru.
– A jeśli kiedykolwiek przejdziesz się wokół portu albo wąskimi, starymi uliczkami… od razu zrozumiesz, dlaczego zakochałam się w tym miejscu. 🤩

Więc dzisiaj zastanawiam się — czy tylko ja jestem aż taką fanką Zumai?
A może ktoś z Was też miał okazję odwiedzić ten zakątek i zakochał się tak samo jak ja?

Do tej pory udało mi się być tam tylko kilka razy, ale mam ogromną nadzieję, że będzie ich jeszcze dużo więcej.
Na szczęście moja trasa ciężarówką często prowadzi w okolice Zumai… więc wierzę, że to tylko kwestia czasu. 🙂
Bo wciąż jest tam wiele miejsc, które chcę odkryć — takich, które już na Google Maps wyglądają niesamowicie, a nie mogę się doczekać, by zobaczyć je na żywo. 🤩
