THE RENAISSANCE MAJESTY OF TORGAU

The photos I want to show you today were taken a year ago, at the very beginning of my photography journey. They were created in a place I visit relatively often — Torgau. Torgau itself is not a large city, but it is certainly a very charming one, and its most recognizable landmark is SCHLOSS HARTENFELS. And today I would like to show you a few photographs of this castle.

Looking back at these images now, I can clearly see that the castle has much greater potential for different kinds of shots and compositions. I think that in the near future I will return there once again to create some black-and-white photographs. I believe that removing the colors would beautifully emphasize the form and character of the castle.

But today, I invite you to take a look at these colorful frames.

Zdjęcia, które wam dzisiaj pokażę, zostały zrobione rok temu, czyli na początku mojej podróży fotograficznej. Powstały w miejscu, do którego trafiam stosunkowo często, a mianowicie w Torgau. Samo Torgau nie jest dużym miastem, natomiast na pewno jest miastem bardzo urokliwym, którego wizytówką jest SCHLOSS HARTENFELS. I to właśnie dzisiaj chciałabym wam pokazać kilka zdjęć tego zamku.

Patrząc teraz z perspektywy czasu, widzę, że zamek ten ma dużo większy potencjał na różnego rodzaju kadry i kompozycje. Myślę, że w niedługim czasie przejdę się znowu pod ten zamek, by zrobić trochę zdjęć czarno-białych. Myślę, że pozbawienie zamku kolorów świetnie podkreśli jego formę.

The weather that day certainly did not encourage long walks. It looked like it was going to rain at any moment, but I think those storm clouds were exactly what gave the photos more dynamics and added a bit of drama to the entire scene.

Pogoda tego dnia nie zachęcała zwyczajnie do spacerów. Cały czas zanosiło się na deszcz, jednak myślę, że właśnie te burzowe chmury nadały zdjęciom dynamiki i dodały trochę dramatyzmu.

HARTENFELS CASTLE is considered one of the most important Renaissance landmarks not only in all of Saxony, but also in the whole of Germany. It once served as the residence of the Saxon electors and played an important role during the Reformation. In 1544 Martin Luther personally consecrated the castle chapel, which is now regarded as the first Protestant church built according to the ideals of the Reformation.

ZAMEK HARTENFELS jest jednym z najważniejszych renesansowych zabytków nie tylko w całej Saksonii, ale również w całych Niemczech. Był bowiem rezydencją elektorów saskich i odegrał ważną rolę podczas reformacji. W 1544 roku Marcin Luter poświęcił zamkową kaplicę. Kaplica z kolei uznawana jest za pierwszy protestancki kościół zbudowany zgodnie z ideami reformacji.

Even though Torgau itself is not a large town, I have to admit that the size of HARTENFELS CASTLE is truly quite impressive. I have not had the chance to see the interior yet, but I think I will definitely include it in my plans during my next visit. From the outside the castle already looks very fascinating and I would really love to explore it from the inside as well.

The castle also has its own courtyard where visitors can see ..... bears! Unfortunately, when I was taking these photos, the bears were hiding, but perhaps during my next visit I will have a bit more luck and manage to capture them with the castle in the background.

Pomimo tego, iż samo miasteczko Torgau nie jest dużym miastem, to muszę przyznać, że wielkość ZAMKU HARTENFELS robi naprawdę dosyć spore wrażenie. Nie byłam co prawda jeszcze w środku, ale myślę, że przy następnej wizycie uwzględnię to w swoich planach. Na zewnątrz bowiem zamek prezentuje się bardzo ciekawie i chętnie zobaczyłabym go od środka. Zamek posiada również swój dziedziniec, na którym można zobaczyć ..... niedźwiedzie! Niestety, akurat jak robiłam zdjęcia, niedźwiadki były schowane, ale może przy następnej mojej wizycie będę miała więcej szczęścia i będę mogła je uwiecznić na tle zamku.

Today HARTENFELS CASTLE serves mainly as a historical, cultural and tourist site. Various exhibitions, events and concerts are regularly held here. I even once happened to come across one of those concerts myself. Every year, the castle attracts many visitors interested in Renaissance architecture as well as the history of the Reformation. Visitors can also still explore the famous castle chapel today.

Dzisiaj ZAMEK HARTENFELS pełni funkcję przede wszystkim turystyczną, historyczną, ale także kulturalną. Odbywają się tutaj bowiem różnego rodzaju wystawy, wydarzenia i koncerty. Sama nawet kiedyś natrafiłam na taki koncert. Każdego roku zamek przyciąga bardzo wiele turystów zainteresowanych architekturą renesansową, jak i historią reformacji. W dalszym ciągu można również zwiedzać kaplicę zamkową.
