To be honest I find cemeteries very interesting places. They can tell us a lot about a country, its culture, traditions and history. Whenever I visit a new country, I always pay attention to places like this because cemeteries look surprisingly different from one country to another. Different customs, beliefs and ways of honoring the dead are often clearly reflected in them. So, as strange as it may sound, I actually enjoy visiting cemeteries when I travel. Many of them carry an incredible amount of history and tell stories that cannot be found in guidebooks.
I get the feeling, but as I replied in a previous comment, this is not an actual cemetery but more like a monument raised for those who fell during the battle. No one is actually buried there, and these types of monuments are pretty much in any county of Romania. There are even more cities next to each other where every single one has its own monument to commemorate its people.
Thank you for the clarification. 😊 In that case, I misunderstood what I was looking at. Still, I find places like this very interesting because they preserve local history and keep the memory of past events alive. I also didn't know that monuments like this are so common throughout Romania. That's actually a very interesting cultural detail and something I will definitely pay more attention to if I visit Romania next time. 🙂
