Did you get the chance of touring any of the Scientific stations or old camp sites of the explorers or are they generally Off Limits?

We did a zodiac cruise to one on Day 5, but that was a seasonal base. They were expecting the team to turn up in a couple of weeks time.
On Day 9, our last day in the continent, we visited some old historical sites, loads of history there.

I would have loved to visit Port Lockroy aka the Penguin post office and send a post card back home, but sadly it wasn't in our itinerary.
I've seen some other cruises visit base stations. Like our ship was chartered by a China company for 16 days (yup, the whole ship for the whole period!!) after we got off, and I saw on IG they visited one of China's base station.
