I’m back with the final installment of my series showcasing the beauty of the town (and municipality) of Río Caribe in Venezuela’s Sucre state.
As you can see, in the two previous posts: (1 and 2), I focused on presenting and highlighting the city’s landmarks, including its monuments, streets, and other features. This time, I’ll focus on some of its wonderful natural areas—namely, its beaches.
As I’ve mentioned, the Arismendi Municipality occupies almost the entire northern part of the Paria Peninsula, and in particular, the Río Caribe Parish encompasses a large portion of that municipality, featuring beaches of extraordinary beauty and charm. In the rest of the municipality, the beaches are almost all wild and sparsely populated.
In this post, I’ll focus on two of Río Caribe’s best-known beaches: Playa Medina and Caracolito. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to visit one of the most popular beaches this time: PuyPuy.
Although the municipality has traditionally relied on fishing and agriculture, tourism has come to play a central role in both household and the overall economy. Despite the shortcomings that Sucre State generally faces in public services, such as water and electricity, the tourist life in these towns remains very vibrant.
“Playa Medina,” located east of the city, is the most iconic beach—from a tourist perspective—in the Río Caribe parish. Of course, its greatest attraction is its coastal beauty (sea and sand), with generally calm waters that are well-suited for children and older adults. But it is also a place of great natural beauty, with tall trees that provide plenty of shade and tranquility. Added to this are the small businesses set up by the locals, with little kiosks where they prepare desserts and dishes typical of the eastern part of the country, such as fish and seafood soups, empanadas, mussels, and fresh pepitonas marinated in lemon (this is one of its delicacies), etc.

The other beach I’m showing you in this post is “Caracolito”, located west of Río Caribe. Although it isn’t as developed for tourism as Playa Medina, it’s a uniquely appealing spot for lovers of the sea and its distinctive features, as I hope to show you in my photos.
I bid farewell to Río Caribe with some views of its entrance and exit roads, which reaffirm the beauty of its landscape and nature.

Saludos.

The description of those shaded spots at Playa Medina sounds perfect for a relaxing afternoon. It is honestly impressive that tourism stays so vibrant there despite the issues with public services you mentioned.
Thanks for your visit, @sararossi . Certainly, people here (besides those from elsewhere) probably travel to these places as a way to de-stress. Best regards.

Beautiful photos from Venezuela. I'd already heard that Rio Caribe was beautiful, but it's even more beautiful than that.
Thank you, @josemalavem
Thank you for visiting and for your comment, @emiliorios. Río Caribe—whether it's a town or a parish—is certainly very beautiful and welcoming. Best regards.

I’m curious about the sixth photo because I noticed there’s a separate small island. Is it possible to visit that island too?
Hello, @kellyane. It's not exactly an island; it's more like a rock or a promontory —there are several of them along the Paria Peninsula. I haven't gone out to it yet, since you'd have to hire a boat to do that. Thanks for stopping by. Best regards.
