After the magical experience in the Resava cave, which I wrote about in the previous post, we headed to the Veliki Buk waterfall, another gem of nature in central-eastern Serbia.

This site is very close to the cave so we didn't travel long. Along the way, we enjoyed the natural landscapes. There are old houses where locals live, but also modern cottages and log cabins where people stay occasionally.

We also saw several restaurants that offer fresh trout. It was only up to us to decide which one to stop by after the walk to treat ourselves. We parked in front of the Izvor Lisine restaurant with a spacious landscaped yard and log cabins for rest.

We got out of the car and breathed in the fresh air. The air there was incredibly fresh, cool, and energizing, making every step feel refreshing.

We took the path through the forest to the waterfall.

On the way, we listened to the gurgling of the water and couldn't wait to get there.

When we finally reached Veliki Buk, the view was stunning.

Water cascaded down the rocks, creating a powerful and at the same time calming scene. The waterfall fills the entire area with a soothing sound that makes you want to pause and simply take it all in.

This is indeed a hidden oasis that we had never heard of before and it was so close to us.

After soaking in the beauty of the waterfall, we headed to the restaurant called Izvor Lisine. It turned out to be the perfect place to relax and enjoy a well-deserved meal. We tried fresh trout and nettle soup, both of which were delicious and full of authentic, homemade flavor. Sitting there, surrounded by nature completed the whole experience.

Veliki (big) Buk is a place that combines natural beauty, fresh air, and simple pleasures into one memorable visit.

Thank you for reading.

It's a wonderful place and view for a picnic. Is that why you're here too?
Well, we didn't exactly go on a picnic, but we wanted to visit all those beautiful places in nature and get away from the city noise and everything. 😊

Whoa, everything there is beautiful! Its the kind of place where a stroll will make you feel more at ease or something. And the waterfall really is the highlight here I think. You found a good gem of a place there.
Thanks 🤗 It was very pleasant and I would be happy to be able to go on such a nature getaway again...
