My first visit to Chalkida, Greece

Hello everyone. I hope you are having a great summer. I was very happy that these days I had the opportunity to be in Greece, my favorite summer destination. My two-week journey through Greece, stretching from the northern coast all the way to the south, came to an end in Chalkida, the lively capital of Evia. Although this was my final stop, it certainly wasn't the end of the story. In my upcoming blogs, I'll take you back through every destination I visited, sharing the experiences that made this trip unforgettable.

Chalkida was a place I had never visited before, and it turned out to be the perfect finale. I know that it has been an important settlement since ancient times and I was sorry that we did not have enough time to visit the sights around the city, but we will leave that for another time. It was very hot and we had a long way back home.

What I enjoyed most was simply wandering through the old streets without any particular plan.

Narrow lanes were lined with small shops selling everything from handmade souvenirs to fashionable clothing.

Around almost every corner there seemed to be another bakery, filling the air with the beautiful aroma of freshly baked bread, traditional Greek pastries, and sweet desserts.

When we went down to the shore, we came across a monument dedicated to the famous philosopher Aristotle, which stands proudly along the waterfront, reminding visitors of the remarkable history.

Chalkida's architecture reflects its long and diverse past. Elegant neoclassical buildings stand beside the sea modern building. One of the buildings that particularly caught my attention was the courthouse.

The seaside promenade was full of life and sea beauty.

Cafés and restaurants overflowed with locals and visitors enjoying coffee, seafood, and conversations overlooking the sea. It was interesting to watch them chat, it made us feel the spirit of this place.

We left Chalkida curious to explore more next time.

I saw a very small part of Halkida. I wish I could see more, for example the museum, the church, but we didn't have enough time...
