Hello, friends, travellers, and community members! Merry Christmas!

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the happiest days with your family and loved ones.
today, I want to reminisce about a couple of years ago when we celebrated Christmas in Alicante. It was truly an unforgettable experience to see the different cultures and traditions of celebrating Christmas.
We are like migratory birds; right now, we're in the south in India. While it’s nice here, but we have faced many challenges in our location. From cleaning to infrastructure, it's been quite the struggle, but we’ve managed to sort everything out. Things are in order now, which allows me to take some time to connect with all of you. I’m still getting used to my new laptop, but it's going okay.
Here in India, where we live, there isn’t as much celebration of Christmas as there is in Europe or the US, but the city close by in Goa is pretty much like the Western world. We don't have time to go visit family or friends because we want to relax for a few days. So the excitement is limited. However,
That particular year, winter in Norway was very harsh. We couldn't travel to India as we usually do, and after working hard in -10 degrees Celsius with a lot of snow, we longed for a warmer place, so we decided on Alicante. It was my first time travelling to Spain, and I was very excited. We found a convenient flight with Ryanair from our local airport.

Our flight was in the afternoon, and the journey was almost three hours long.

We arrived in Alicante around 4.30 PM, and I snapped my first photo from the air of that beautiful sunny landscape. It felt like we were in the right place at the right time.

Many Norwegians were travelling to Alicante as well, so the plane was full. Upon arrival at the airport, a large Christmas tree warmly welcomed all the visitors.
Since it was our first time there, it was a little challenging to find transportation to our hotel. However, my clever husband managed to sort it out.
Finally, we took the airport shuttle to the city centre. As soon as we got off the bus at our stop, we were greeted by a massive angel welcoming all visitors.

The hotel was in the centre of town. While walking, I was watching all around and was very impressed to see how they decorate the whole city in a nice traditional and cultural way.

From the underground stairs, our hotel was just a 2-minute walk

We checked in and wanted to go around to get an idea of navigating our location.

We were walking around and targeting the main points. time went very fast, and it became dark, and the beautiful decorative lights illuminated the distance, and the sunset cast bright colours on the sky, making the atmosphere more amazing.

We came back to the hotel after being refreshed, and we asked at reception about some nominal enquiries. They said that a magnificent nativity is close to the marina, and it is a very popular artistic attraction for Christmas. according to Guinness World Records, it is the tallest in the world. It wasn't so far from the hotel, so we headed in that direction.

The roads are very specifically decorated, and each street has its unique pattern of lights. Place to place some other outdoor ornaments beautifully, making pretty much everywhere look like a heavenly Christmas.
Some angels, Christmas trees, Tivoli for children, as well as some adults who have managed to maintain the child within themselves.

And finally, we arrived at the location where the impressively tall main nativity scene with beautiful statues of the Virgin Mary, baby Jesus, and the three kings were created. They look real from a long distance, a very special work of creativity from the local artists. Lots of people wanted to take photos, and of course, we also took some in the night light,

The scene was created on the long esplanade along passing the Marina. Very nice, clean area. A lot of people were enjoying walking around there. The designs made by tiles look like colourful waves, a very long path, and they put the nativity scene at the center. Both sides of the path were lined with tall date trees. And the Christmas lights on them were also amazing.
The fountain in the centre and its surroundings
make this area very special. Everything is clean and well organised. I will never forget these beautiful Christmas scenes from Alicante.
So my pleasure to share these beautiful memories. Thank you very much for enjoying this.
The next day was Christmas Eve, and sure enough, I took some more nice shots. Here are some of them the link:

Alicante! When I saw the title, my first thought was that you are here now, until I started to read and saw you are in India. 😉
This year it is not so warm in Alicante; he had a cold, heavy rain for the whole day yesterday so it was nice to see the nativity scene bathed in sunshine. I am sending you holiday greetings, @hindavi 👋
Dear @mipiano,
Thank you very much, and warm holiday greetings to you and your family. We have been here for 15 days now and will be staying until the end of March. That year, 2023, our Christmas was truly beautiful in Alicante. I can say it was the best holiday season I've ever had. The only challenge was finding good food, as many businesses were closed for the holidays.
The weather here in South India is nice and warm, especially compared to what I've heard from our friends in Norway, where it’s 1°C and grey and cold. I invite you, you are welcome to visit us if you wish! A hug :)
Merry Christmas
