Dehradun is approximately 250 km from Delhi, which took me 7 hours to reach. Jaisalmer is a full 800 km from Delhi, which took 14 hours to cover by car. So, after a 21-hour journey, I reached Jaisalmer, located in Rajasthan. In terms of area, Jaisalmer is the third largest district in India, equal to the southern state of Karela. Jaisalmer also holds the title of "Golden City," a title it earned because the geographical surroundings here are golden in color.

Upon reaching the hotel, I go to sleep. The next morning, I do my chores, and wait for dusk. Today's plan is to visit Gadisar Lake in the evening and watch the sunset over the lake. This lake is about 4 km from the hotel. In the evening, we couldn't find parking, and a lot of time wasted searching for it. After a lot of running around, we finally reached the lake, only to catch the last rays of the sunset.

Gadisar Lake is an artificial lake built by King Rawal Jaisal in 1156. The lake's primary purpose was to provide water to the surrounding villages, as the water in Jaisalmer is saltier than in other parts of Rajasthan. Gargling with the water feels like swallowing a handful of salt. Now that the water problem has been resolved, the lake has become a tourist destination. People come here to watch the sunset and go boating. We simply enjoyed the sunset and didn't go boating.

On the way, we saw many vehicles parked in no-parking zones, causing inconvenience to pedestrians. On the way to the lake, colorful items were being sold, including puppets, an integral part of Rajasthan, local costumes, wooden camels, food items, and furniture. Tourists are present in good numbers, so all the shops have good footfall. I want to buy a puppet, but we have to get back to the hotel and have made appointments with a few people.

There are a few cafes near the lake where we had cappuccinos last year. I'm tempted to go again, but I have to go quickly. If I have time in a day or two, I'll definitely come back here and enjoy the beautiful sunset with friends. There are many umbrellas in the lake, some hundreds of years old, and they still stand intact. Looking at these stretchers, I wonder how people managed to achieve such fine craftsmanship in those days without machines.

The lake isn't overly crowded; people are sitting and enjoying the sunset. Some children are running around and shouting. Some people are making reels and dancing, a couple is taking selfies by the lake, and another couple is enjoying snacks. Seeing all this makes me want to stay longer; I love watching people enjoy their space.

*देहरादून से दिल्ली लगभग २५० किमी है, जहाँ पहुँचने में मुझे ७ घंटे लगे. दिल्ली से जैसलमेर पुरे ८०० किमी दूर है जिसे कार से तय करने में १४ घंटे लगे. तो २१ घंटे के लम्बे ट्रेवल के बाद मैं जैसलमेर पहुंचा जोकि राजस्थान में स्थित है. क्षेत्रफल की बात करें तो जैसलमेर भारत में तीसरी सबसे बड़ी डिस्ट्रिक्ट है, यह डिस्ट्रिक्ट साउथ के करेला राज्य के बराबर है. जैसलमेर को ‘गोल्डन सिटी’ का ख़िताब भी प्राप्त है और यह ख़िताब इसलिए मिला है क्योंकि यहाँ की भौगौलिक परिवेश का रंग ही गोल्डन है.

होटल पहुंचकर मैं सो जाता हूँ, अगली सुबह अपने काम करता हूँ और शाम होने का इंतजार करता हूँ. आज का प्लान है शाम को gadisar झील विजिट करने का और झील के ऊपर होते सनसेट को देखने का. होटल से यह झील लगभग ४ किमी दूर है, शाम को हमें पार्किंग नहीं मिलती और पार्किंग ढूँढने में बहुत टाइम वेस्ट हो जाता है जिस वजह से दौड़-भाग करने पर हम झील पहुँचते हैं और यहाँ हम सूर्यास्त की आखिरी रौशनी को ही देख पाने में कामयाब होते हैं.

Gadisar झील एक कृत्रिम झील है जिसे राजा रावल जैसल ने ११५६ में तैयार करवाया था, झील का मुख्य उद्देश्य था आसपास के गाँव को पानी उपलब्ध करवाना और ऐसा इसलिए किया गया क्योंकि जैसलमेर में पानी राजस्थान के अन्य इलाकों से ज्यादा खारा है, यूँ समझ लो की पानी से कुल्ला करते हुए ऐसा लगता है जैसे मुठ्ठीभर नमक मुंह में डाल लिया हो. आजकल पानी की समस्या हल हो गयी है तो अब यह झील एक पर्यटक स्थान बन गया है, लोग यहाँ हमारी तरफ सनसेट देखने और बोटिंग करने आते हैं. हमने सिर्फ सनसेट इंजॉय किया और बोटिंग नहीं करी.

रस्ते में हमने नो पार्किंग में बहुत सारी गाड़ियां पार्क देखी, जिसकी वजह से पैदल चलने वालों को दिक्कत हो रही थी. झील के रस्ते पर रंग-बिरंगी चीज़ें बिक रही थी जैसेकि, कठपुतली जोकि राजस्थान का एक अभिन्न अंग है, स्थानीय परिधान, लकड़ी के ऊंट, खाने का सामान और फर्नीचर. सैलानी अच्छी तादाद में मौजूद हैं इसलिए सभी दुकानों पर अच्छा footfall है. मैं कठपुतली लेना चाहता हूँ लेकिन हमें वापस होटल पहुंचना है कुछ लोगों को मिलने का टाइम दिया हुआ है.

झील के पास कुछ कैफ़े हैं जहाँ हमने लास्ट इयर कैपेचिनो पी थी, इस बार भी मन है लेकिन क्या करें जल्दी जाना होगा. अगर एक-दो दिन बाद समय मिला तो जरुर फिर से यहाँ आएंगे और यहाँ के हसीं सनसेट को एन्जॉय करेंगे दोस्तों के साथ. झील में बहुत सारी छतरियां लगी हैं जोकि कई सो साल पुराणी हैं और आज भी वैसे की वैसी ही खड़ी हैं, इन स्ट्रेचरस को देखकर मेरा सोचना है कि बिना मशीनों के उस ज़माने में इतनी अच्छी कारीगरी कैसे करते थे लोग.

झील पर भीड़ ज्यादा नहीं है, लोग बैठे हैं और सनसेट को एन्जॉय कर रहे हैं. कुछ बच्चे यहाँ से वहां भाग रहे हैं और चिल्ला रहे हैं. कुछ लोग रील बना रहे हैं और नाच रहे हैं, एक कपल झील किनारे सेल्फी ले रहा है और वहीँ दूसरा कपल स्नैक्स का मजा उठा रहा है. यह सबकुछ देखकर मेरा मन यहाँ और रुकने का, मुझे लोगों को उनके स्पेस में एन्जॉय करते देखना बहुत अच्छा लगता है.
