I have so many pending trips to write about, and on top of that, I'm lazy and travel so much. When there's a long gap in my travels, I feel like making a plan and going to become a "free soul." When I get tired of traveling, I think that some rest is necessary for my body and mind. So, philosophy aside, let me take you from Jaisalmer to Longewala. This place is located in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan, and its fame is due to the Indo-Pak International Border. It was here that India defeated Pakistan in 1971 and in memory of this victory, a running event called "The Border" is held every year since 2018. I've come to volunteer in this event. So friends, let's go on this memorable journey.

The event was held on December 7th, for which we left six days ago. While traveling from India's capital, we encountered a traffic jam. To avoid the traffic jam, we took the car onto a dirt road, resulting in a flat tire. It took about 35 minutes to remove the spare tire and set it. Today, we have to travel 800 km to reach Jaisalmer, known as the Golden City. We stop at Churu on the way for lunch.

We arrive in Jaisalmer at 10 pm. After checking into our room, we head to our favorite place in Jaisalmer. We went to Prabhu Tea Stall at Hanuman Chowk and drank hot milk. While enjoying the milk, we also visited the famous Jaisalmer Fort, built by King Jaisal in 1156 AD. The fort, shrouded in glowing yellow light, looked magnificent at night. From there, we went to our room and ended our day in bed.

The next morning, we took a trip to Gadisar Lake, where there are numerous umbrellas, paddle boats, and many tourists. It's a serene setting, and we get busy with our event work after admiring the rising sun. After finishing all our work during the day, we head to the movie hall in the evening and watch a Hindi movie. This was our second day, which was amazing.

The next day, we check into the Rangmahal Hotel, where the Maximum Runners are staying. Staying at the Kila Ruki Hotel was also wonderful. Last year, we used to stay at the Heritage Inn Hotel, but this time, due to space constraints, we changed the hotel. We head to Jaisalmer's Indira Indoor Stadium, where the event's bib distribution will take place. Upon reaching there, we get busy with our work. From today onwards, over the next two days, 1200 bibs in three categories will be distributed here.

After the bib distribution, we return to the hotel and enjoy watching the full moon shine in the sky. The day before the race, a route briefing begins, with approximately 1,500 people present, all listening attentively. The event begins at 12 noon on December 7th. 1,200 runners are on the road. Running in the scorching heat, approximately 400 runners will reach Longewala to complete their 160-km race.

My job is to support the runners and photograph them. I'm also in a patrol car, monitoring the runners to ensure everyone is doing well and to provide assistance if anyone faces any problems. The race is underway, evening arrives, and then a very cold night arrives, forcing runners to take their clothes out of their drop bags. This pleasant cold can be gauged by the fact that the runners have worn three layers on top and two layers on the bottom.

The next morning, at 4:50, a runner arrives and becomes the first runner to finish the 161-kilometer category. Runners then arrive one by one, and the event continues until 4 p.m. Before nightfall, we return to the hotel, where we shower, change into clean clothes, and treat ourselves to a large meal at a restaurant.

इवेंट ७ दिसम्बर को आयोजित हुआ जिसके लिए हम ६ दिन पहले निकले. भारत की राजधानी से अपनी कार से चलते हुए जाम मिला, जाम से बचने के लिए हमने कार को कच्चे रोड पर उतार दिया जिसके कारण टायर पंचर हो गया. स्टेपनी निकालकर टायर सेट करने में लगभग 35 मिनट लग गए. आज हमें ८०० किमी लम्बा रास्ता तय करके जैसलमेर पहुंचना है जिसे स्वर्ण नगरी का ख़िताब प्राप्त है. रस्ते में चुरू रूककर हम लंच करते हैं.

जैसलमेर हम रात 10 बजे पहुँचते हैं, रूम में चेकिन करके हम जैसलमेर में अपने फेवरेट प्लेस पर पहुँच जाते हैं. हनुमान चौक पर मौजूद ‘प्रभु टी स्टाल’ जाकर हमने गर्मागर्म दूध पिया. दूध का स्वाद लेते हुए जैसलमेर का फेमस किला भी देखा जोकि राजा जैसल ने ११५६AD में बनवाया था. रात में चमकती पीली रौशनी में ढका यह किला बहुत शानदार दिख रहा था. यहाँ से रूम गए और बैड पर जाकर अपने दिन को समाप्त किया.

अगली सुबह एक चक्कर हम गड़ीसर झील लगाते हैं, यहाँ बहुत सारी छतरियां हैं, पैडल नाव हैं और बहुत सारे tourists हैं. शांत नजारा है और उगते सूर्य को निहारकर इवेंट के काम में लग जाते हैं. दिन में सभी काम निपटाकर हम शाम को यहाँ मौजूद मूवी हॉल जाते हैं औरएक हिंदी मूवी देखकर आते हैं. यह हमारा दूसरा दिन था जोकि बहुत अमेजिंग बिता.

अगले दिन हम रंगमहल होटल में चेकिंग करते हैं, इसी होटल में मक्सिम्म रनर्स रुके हैं. किला रुकी इस होटल में रहने का अनुभव भी शानदार था, वैसे तो पिछले साल तक हम हेरिटेज inn होटल में आकर रुकते थे लेकिन इस बार स्पेस के कारण इस होटल को हमने चेंज कर दिया. जैसलमेर के इंदिरा इंडोर स्टेडियम जाते हैं, यहीं इवेंट का बिब डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन होना है. यहाँ पहुंचकर हम अपने-अपने काम में लग जाते हैं, आज से अगले दो दिन तक यहाँ तीन केटेगरी के १२०० बिब वितरित किये जायेंगे.

बिब डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन के बाद हम होटल पहुँचते हैं और आकाश में चमकते पूर्ण चंद्रमा को देखकर मजा आया. रेस से एक दिन पहले रूट की ब्रीफिंग शुरू होती है जहाँ लगभग १५०० लोग मौजूद थे और सभी बड़े ध्यान से रेस की ब्रीफिंग सुनते हैं. ७ दिसम्बर को इवेंट दिन के १२ बजे शुरू होता है, सड़क पर १२०० रनर्स दौड़ रहे हैं, दिन की तेज़ धुप में दौड़ते हुए लगभग 400 रनर्स लोंगेवाला जायेंगे और अपनी १६० किमी लम्बी दौड़ को पूरा करेंगे.

मेरा काम रनर्स को सुपोर्ट देना और उनकी फोटोग्राफी करना है. साथ ही मैं एक पेट्रोलिंग कार में हूँ और हम रनर्स पर नज़र रख रहे हैं कि सभी ठीक रहे और यदि किसी को कोई समस्या आती है तो उसे हेल्प दी जा सके. रेस चल रही है, शाम होती है और फिर आती है बहुत ठंडी रात जिसमें रनर्स अपने ड्राप बैग्स से निकलकर सारे कपडे पहन लेते हैं. इस सुखी ठण्ड का अंदाज़ा इस बात से लगाया जा सकता है कि रनर्स ने 3 लेयर ऊपर और २ लेयर नीचे पहन ली थी.

अगली सुबह ०४:५० पर एक रनर्स पहुंचकर १६१ किमी लम्बी केटेगरी को फिनिश करके पहला रनर बनता है रेस का. जिसके बाद एक-एक करके रनर्स आते रहे और इवेंट शाम ४ बजे तक चला. रात होने से पहले हम होटल पहुँच जाते हैं जहाँ नहाकर साफ़ कपडे पहनते हैं और रेस्तौरेंट जाकर बहुत सारा खाना खाकर अपने आपको ट्रीट देते हैं.
