Greetings to all the travel lovers in the @worldmappin community—I wish you a blessed weekend.

Today I’d like to share some photos of a building constructed last century to serve as a military barracks, which now houses the Dean’s Office of Arts and Humanities at Lisandro Alvarado Central Western University, located on Carrera 15 between Calles 26 and 27 in the city of Barquisimeto.

It is a beautiful reinforced concrete and brick structure with an off-white facade and numerous colonial-style wooden windows. It also features several guard posts at the corners and a double-height entrance bearing the sign: “Jacinto Lara Headquarters.”

At first glance, it resembles a fortress or castle. It also houses departments of the Iribarren municipal government, such as the headquarters of the Municipal Institute of Culture and Art (IMCA) and the Municipal Institute of Education (IME).

This building is located in what we know as the city’s historic district, and I must admit that the recent restoration work turned out very well and managed to preserve its original appearance.

In this historic area, Carrera 15 isn’t paved like the other streets; instead, it’s lined with pink cobblestones that give it a very pleasant look.

When we entered the complex, we found a huge central courtyard lined with colored bricks, surrounded by corridors with decorated columns and orange-colored caico floors.

The corridors are wide with sufficiently high ceilings and contain several classrooms, where students currently attend their classes.

There is a lower level where the cafeteria is located and where students can relax.

At the time of my visit, an orchestra could be heard rehearsing a salsa song in one of the institution’s classrooms. I also saw students sitting in the hallways with their notebooks open, while others were engaged in various activities.

This has been my tour of this beautiful work of art, which today represents part of the community’s historical and cultural heritage and development.

Conociendo el antiguo cuartel Jacinto Lara de Barquisimeto

Saludos a todos los amantes de los viajes de la comunidad @worldmappin, les deseo un bendecido fin de semana.

Hoy les quiero compartir imágenes de una edificación construida el siglo pasado para funcionar como cuartel de armas y en la actualidad es la sede del decanato de arte y humanidades de la Universidad centro occidental Lisandro Alvarado, ubicada en la carrera 15 entre calles 26 y 27 de la ciudad de Barquisimeto.

Es una hermosa construcción de concreto armado y ladrillos con una fachada color blanco hueso y gran cantidad de ventanas coloniales de madera. También posee varias garitas de vigilancia en las esquinas y una entada con doble altura donde se lee el aviso: "Cuartel General Jacinto Lara".

A simple vista tiene la forma de una fortaleza o de castillo. Allí también funcionan dependencias de la alcaldía de Iribarren como la sede del instituto Municipal de Cultura y Arte (IMCA) y el Instituto Municipal de Educación (IME).

Esta construcción funciona en lo que conocemos como casco histórico de la ciudad y debo reconocer que la restauración que le hicieron recientemente quedó muy bien y lograron mantener su aspecto original.

En esta zona histórica la carrera 15 no está asfaltada como as otras calles, sino que está forrada con adoquines rosados que le dan u aspecto muy agradable.

Cuando entramos al recinto, nos encontramos con un inmenso patio central forrado con ladrillos de colores, rodeado de pasillos con columnas decoradas y pisos de caico color naranja.

Los pasillos son amplios con el techo suficientemente elevado y contiene varios salones, donde actualmente los alumnos reciben sus clases.

Existe un nivel inferior donde funciona el cafetín y para el esparcimiento de la población estudiantil.

En el momento de mi visita se escuchaba una orquesta ensayando un tema de salsa en uno de los salones de la institución. También se observaron estudiantes sentados en los pasillos, con sus cuadernos abiertos y otros haciendo diferentes actividaes.

Este ha sido mi recorrido por esta bella obra de arte que hoy día representa parte del patrimonio hist'rico y culturaldesarrollo ejecuto de ls comunidad.
