Today, I invite you to join me as we explore a small part of a tiny town in Lara called Sarare.

Sarare is a town located about 30 kilometers from the city of Cabudare, and it takes approximately 30 to 35 minutes to get there under normal conditions—that is, when it isn’t raining, as was the case here.

I had to take my daughter to the hospital in Sarare for a pre-clinical visit before the start of her rural clinic, her final semester to complete her medical degree. From the moment we left Cabudare until we arrived, it rained the entire way. The road was very wet, and I had to drive at a moderate speed to avoid any problems, because in these cases the pavement becomes slippery.

The sky was filled with gray, rain-laden clouds that accompanied us for much of the way, and there were stretches where the rain was quite heavy.

It seems we’ve entered the rainy season here, as it’s been raining every day lately, especially in the mornings. The rain makes the foliage greener and the pavement look cleaner.

This part of the country has always been very humid, because it is forested, with a warm climate, and features large trees, shrubs, and plenty of grass in the surrounding area.

It had been quite a while since I’d taken this route. Since 1996, if I recall correctly, when I was working in this area as a construction inspector for the municipality.

When we arrived in Sarare, we entered the town via a railway crossing and took another road that led us directly to the hospital. It’s not necessary to drive through the town to get there.

The streets of Sarare were covered in water. The rain had already stopped, but the pavement was wet and the breeze was cold.
It was still a bit dark because the sun hadn't risen yet, and the streets looked very deserted, as if it were a holiday.

The hospital’s facade is square-shaped with rectangular windows and is entirely clad in clay tiles. It is a traditional reinforced concrete structure surrounded by palm trees and expansive green spaces that add a splash of color.
Nearby is a small plaza with benches where people sit to wait for their relatives to be seen, though on this occasion it was deserted due to the rain.

This hospital was one of those that treated the patients most severely affected by COVID-19 between 2020 and 2022. Sadly, many of them did not leave this place alive, due to this scourge that kept us on high alert during those years.

Soon I will be presenting to you in more detail the facilities of this hospital, which remains very active in this remote town in Lara State.

Una visita a Sarare en un día lluvioso

Saludos mi gente viajera de @worldmappin, les deseo lo mejor en este comienzo de una nueva semana, que sea un día provechoso para todos.
En esta oportunidad los invito a acompañarme a conocer una ´pequeña parte de un pequeño poblado Larense llamado Sarare.

Sarare es un poblado que dista unos 30 kilómetros de la ciudad de Cabudare y se toma aproximadamente entre 30 a 35 minutos llegar hasta allá en condiciones normales, es decir cuando no esté lloviendo, como fue en este caso.

Me tocó llevar a mi hija hasta el hospital de Sarare en una visita previa al inicio de su clínica rural, último semestre para concluir su carrera de medicina. Desde que salimos de Cabudare hasta la llegada, estuvo lloviendo todo el camino. La carretera estaba muy mojada y tuve que avanzar a una velocidad moderada para evitar cualquier inconveniente, porque en estos casos el pavimento se pone resbaladizo.

El cielo se veía congestionado de nubes grises cagadas de agua que nos acompañaron una buena parte del camino y hubo tramos donde la precipitación era bastante fuerte.

Al parecer hemos entrado en la temporada de lluvias en el país, ya que últimamente ha estado lloviendo todos los días, sobre todo en las mañanas. La lluvia reverdece el follaje y hace lucir mas limpio el pavimento.

Esta parte del país siempre ha sido muy húmeda, porque es boscosa, de clima cálido, con presencia de grandes árboles, arbustos y mucho pasto en los alrededores.

Hacia ya bastante tiempo que no hacía este recorrido. Desde el año 1996, si mal no recuerdo, cuando estuve trabajando en esta zona como inspector de obras en el municipio.

Cuando llegamos a Sarare, entramos al pueblo por un cruce de vías, tomamos otra que nos condujo directamente al hospital. No es necesario atravesar el pueblo para llegar a él.

Se veían las calles de Sarare cubiertas de agua. Ya la lluvia estaba pasando pero el pavimento estaba húmedo y la brisa estaba fría.
El día estaba un poco oscuro porque el sol no se había levantado aun y las calles se veían muy solas, como si fuese un día feriado.

La fachada del hospital tiene forma cuadrada con ventanales rectangulares y está revestida de tablilla de arcilla en su totalidad. Es una construcción tradicional de concreto armado y está rodeada de palmeras y amplias áreas verdes que la revisten de colorido.
Muy cerca está una pequeña plaza con bancos, donde las personas se sientan a esperar que atiendan a sus familiares, aunque en esta oportunidad estaba desierta por la lluvia.

Este hospital fue uno de los que recibían a los pacientes mas afectados por el covid 19 entre los años 2020 y 2022. Tristemente, muchos de ellos no salieron con vida de este lugar, debido a este flagelo que nos mantuvo en alerta esos años.

Próximamente les estaré presentando con mas detalle las instalaciones de este hospital, que permanece muy activo en este lejano poblado del Estado Lara.
