Hello dear friends,
Last year, when we were returning from the sea, we went to Podgorica, the city where my husband was born and lived there until he was 11 years old.
I had never been to Podgorica before, and my husband had not been there for more than 40 years. Imagine his surprise when he saw his hometown and didn't recognize it.
All of that makes sense, because it is normal for a city to change, develop, and build in 4 decades.
He only recognized the building where he lived.
It was both sad and funny for me. The city, unknown to me, in which we stayed for several hours, awakened memories from my childhood, the memory of my grandmother, grandfather, aunts...
Seeing him like that, nothing was funny to me anymore. As I write this, I write with tears in my eyes.
Podgorica is the capital of Montenegro. Once upon a time, Montenegro, as well as Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, formed one country called Yugoslavia.
The city is located in the central part of Montenegro and is at the confluence of the Ribnica River and the Morača River.
Lake Skadar is located about 14 km from Podgorica, and the Adriatic Sea is 50 km from Podgorica.
We stopped by a nearby park to cool off, because Podgorica is very hot in the summer. The Tološka Forest or Bemax Park is so beautifully decorated that this break came in extremely handy.

We then went down a beautifully landscaped path to the Morača River.

We walked around the city and stopped for lunch at a beautiful restaurant called "Avlija".

Since we had to move on, we climbed to the viewpoint above Podgorica and continued our journey to Serbia.
Here, one story from the trip that remained in my memory, with very mixed emotions.

Such a touching story.. It’s bittersweet to see how a hometown transforms over 40 years. The photos of Bemax Park and the Morača River look beautiful. Thanks for sharing these heartfelt memories
