Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves are a wonderful stop for anyone visiting Bhubaneswar. They offer history, spirituality, architecture and beautiful viewsโall in one place. The Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves are an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) protected monument, and an entry ticket is required for the monument complex.

Located just 6 to 7 kilometers from Bhubaneswar, this historic site is an absolute must-visit for an unforgettable experience. If you are exploring the city, adding this incredible gem to your itinerary promises a truly fascinating glimpse into India's heritage.

There are thousands of historical places in India that we know nothing about or have only studied in textbooks, but seeing them with my own eyes feels truly amazing. It never ceases to amaze me that despite our modern technology, our ancestors achieved such monumental feats and enduring wonders through sheer grit and limited tools.

Witnessing such intricate handmade carvings shows how ancient artisans painstakingly etched entire stories into stone. We ought to visit these heritage sites to honor their craftsmanship and keep their remarkable legacy alive.

We made the mistake of arriving at 10:00 AM; the scorching heat caught us completely off guard, and without water, the kids grew restless so we couldn't explore much.

Upon reaching the top, we came across the temple of Lord Jagannath, Subhadra, and their brother Balram, which felt wonderful to see. We rested there for about half an hour, soaking in the truly peaceful atmosphere of the temple, and had a divine darshan of Mata Rani, who looked exceptionally beautiful.

Mata Rani was adorned in her full divine splendor, truly showcasing how special these idols are in India and how, with pure belief, God truly resides even in stone. Any wish you make to Her comes true, provided you have genuine faith and devotion in your heart.

This is the Jain temple upstairs, and honestly, it was extremely hot; the floor was made of stone and our feet were literally burning, making it nearly impossible to walk on. The temple was only open to Jains and non-Jains were not allowed, but somehow I managed to take photos through grills of the temple to share with my hive Family.

While walking through the caves, I kept wondering how Jain monks must have lived here thousands of years agoโspending their days in meditation, simplicity and silence. Today, we live surrounded by technology, noise and constant activity, so standing inside these ancient caves felt surprisingly peaceful.

I've had an incredible experience here and would highly recommend everyone to visit; best of all, I'm standing at the top of the cave with a panoramic view of the entire city of Bhubaneswar

I've gathered so many unforgettable memories here, marveling at the breathtaking cave carvings and picturing how our ancestors lived thousands of years ago.
