It sounds crazy, but only a couple of months have passed since this post and this post and I still feel the overall experience very recent in both my heart and memory.
It might be because I am not travelling too much lately, but also because this trip was taken with a special meaning that I already shared in the previous posts, but either way, I only realised today that I am still indebted to one last place we've seen during our stay and which I wanted to write about.
So here we go, with a really special place that, although it might seem just one of the many other lakes Romania shelters on its territory, means so much to me, and I would definitely enjoy re-visiting it someday.

Despite the level of adrenaline and quality of stories I used to share in my previous trips, the one to Moacsa, Romania, was actually quite the opposite, searching for less adrenaline and adventure but rather for a quiet place to serve as home for a weekend, and possibly explore the surroundings with not too many expectations.
Hence, the view to the Moacsa Lake was never missing, no matter the time of the day, as we were facing the lake from the place my boyfriend and I called home, beginning and ending our days with the same view towards the water that seemed so calm.
Since we arrived quite late on our first day of vacation and the sunset was already settling, we decided to begin the next morning with a quick walk down to the lake but we ended up being surprised by both a lovely scenery with nature still awakening, but also by the locked doors that offer access to the lake, because Moacsa Lake is an artificial lake which you are not free to explore whenever you want.
Actually, this lake is quite popular among fishermen because it represents a lake with lots of fish species that can be caught, as well as being famous for the big captures that took place here over the years.
Funny thing is that, neither I or my father who's a big fan of fishing never heard about this lake until our visit, no matter how much we had roamed in Romania before. But we did not let ourselves be discouraged and took this moment to enjoy our slow morning while having a warm drink until access would finally be allowed on the lake and get a closer view.

A thing that I forgot to mention is that the lake is more familiar with the locals' visits, hence why all the information you will find all around it is written either in Romanian or Hungarian, since there is a big community of Hungarian people in Covasna county, where Moacsa is located. So definitely not the friendliest place with foreign tourists, but what's written on the panels is basically that you are not allowed to walk pets or to listen to music while being around the lake, the schedule for visiting it being opened daily between 8 AM and 9 PM, with no fee for visitors but only for those willing to either go fishing or camping.

Once the fog lifted and we made our way back to the lake, we were welcomed by a completely different experience than before. The calmness and passions were speaking louder than anything, with quite a few fishermen already doing their thing and catching lots of fish even during our short visit.
I absolutely loved seeing everyone do their business without being bothered by the other people passing by, as it seemed like a place that could be for everyone and not just for fishing enthusiasts.

Just a few steps to the left, still along the shore of the lake, you can find an even chillier place to set up your caravan and enjoy some privacy too. This seemed like a much more suitable place for people who want to spend the night here because in this area, access to visitors is forbidden. But I still managed to snap a picture through the fence.

But if you are looking for an even chillier and people-less scenery along the lake, you need to walk a bit further to the left until you reach the dam.
It's true that we did meet two info panels which were clearly stating that access to people is forbidden in that part, hence why you won't find any people. But let's say we played the fool one getting ready our speech that we did not understand what was written on the panel since it has no English, oops!
So, once we reached the dam, we absolutely loved the new perspective of the lake.
Obviously, we are speaking about the same water, the same hills, but fewer people and more silence and nature, yet the elements we were seeking so badly during our trip.

Some of the fish species you can find in the waters of the Moacsa Lake are carp, pike, perch, and zander, offering fishing opportunities even in winter, as well as the chance to go for a picnic or hiking in the area.
The lake is located in the village with the same name, which is Moacsa, within Covasna county, Romania. You can access and reach it by driving via the national road DN11.
