My trip to Filandia and Salento (Eng/Esp)

Today I'm going to show you a new trip I took with my family to the towns of Filandia and Salento, which are located in the coffee region of the city of Pereira in Colombia. We stayed in a nice hotel and spent four days there, and I can honestly say that the typical local food is delicious.

The landscape is fertile and the climate is cold, while the people are very friendly to tourists. One very distinctive feature is that almost everyone wore ponchos and hats, so I took the opportunity to put on my accessories too, as shown in the photographs. On the other hand, the houses are very colorful and stand out for their clay tiles.

Coffee production is the main industry in the area, as the economy depends on it. However, I also noticed that the locals focus on handicrafts. I was delighted by the jewelry samples, as they were very beautiful, especially because they use beads in their creations.

In Filandia, there were different kiosks selling coffee in different forms. There weren't many people here, but in Salento there was more activity, as it is more central and therefore easier to get around. In the main square, there is even a service of rustic vehicles that travel to the most visited tourist spots in the region.

We got into one of the jeeps and visited several viewpoints. I was surprised by the stairs I had to climb to get there, as they are quite high. My legs were shaking by the end of the tour, but it was worth it because the view from there is very beautiful. There are several places selling food and also hotels.

Among the attractions is a hot air balloon ride, which is simply breathtaking. Excitement and fear combined until I was able to observe the magnificent aerial view of the place, nature in all its splendor.

When we descended, we decided to eat. They served us hot drinks, and among the options were very strong liquors. For my part, I enjoyed a spectacular trout and for dessert I chose the popular strawberries and cream, a real treat. The view of the mountains still remains in my memory, that impressive valley that takes your breath away with its majesty.

I loved this family outing, and I would definitely return to these coffee plantations whenever I have the opportunity.

Hoy les muestro un nuevo recorrido, me fui junto a mi familia hasta los pueblos de Filandia y Salento, los cuales se ubican en el eje cafetero de la ciudad de Pereira en Colombia. Nos hospedamos en un buen hotel y pasamos cuatro días allá y puedo puedo decir con franqueza que la comida típica local es deliciosa.

El paisaje es un campo fértil cuyo clima es frío, en tanto las personas son muy amables con los turistas. Una característica muy particular es que casi todos vestían ruanas y sombreros, así que aproveché para ponerme mis accesorios también, tal como se muestra en las fotografías. Por otra parte, las casas son muy coloridas y se destacan por sus tejas de arcilla.

La producción del café es lo primordial de la zona, pues su economía depende de ello. Sin embargo, también pude observar que los lugareños se enfocan en la artesanía, me deleité con las muestras de bisutería pues eran muy hermosas, sobre todo, porque usan mostacillas en sus elaboraciones.

En Filandia habían diferentes kioscos donde comercializaban el café en diferentes presentaciones. Acá había poco movimiento de personas, en cambio en Salento había más actividad, puesto que es más céntrico y por lo tanto más cómodo para desplazarse, inclusive en la plaza principal está un servicio de vehículos rústicos que viajan hasta los lugares turísticos más visitados de la región.

Subimos a uno de los jeeps y visitamos varios miradores. Me quedé sorprendida con la escalera que tenía que subir para llegar allá, pues es bastante alta, hasta las piernas me temblaban al terminar el recorrido, pero valió la pena pues la vista del lugar es muy hermosa. Allí hay varios locales que venden comida y también hoteles.

Entre las atracciones está un paseo en globo aerostático, sencillamente impresionante. La emoción y el miedo se combinaron hasta que pude observar la magnífica vista aérea del lugar, la naturaleza en todo su esplendor.

Al descender decidimos comer, nos sirvieron bebidas calientes, entre las opciones había licores muy fuertes. Por mi parte degusté una espectacular trucha y como postre elegí las populares fresas con crema, toda una delicia. Todavia permanece en mis recuerdos la vista de las montañas, ese impresionante valle que quita el aliento por su majestuosidad.

Me encantó este paseo familiar, sin duda volvería a transitar estos cafetales cada vez que tenga la oportunidad.
