Star Wars Trivia & Ruby the 2CV: A Day at the Great British Car Journey Event

We went along to the Great British Car Journey Event in our local county. It was actually a fun day out, even for someone like me who doesn't know much about cars. ​According to the event poster, owners who sign up to bring their classic cars get museum entry, spending vouchers for the café/shop, and a souvenir metal plaque to take home, so the car park was packed with all sorts of colourful vehicles from the past.

​My brother took his red Citroën 2CV (nicknamed Ruby) with its canvas roof rolled back. It was sitting right next to a silver Peugeot.

​I found out this orange car with three wheels and a huge lid opening up is called a Reliant Bond Bug. I was told that the person who designed it actually used its base to build Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder in Star Wars! How cool is that?! It certainly looked like something straight out of a retro sci-fi film, parked right next to a bright yellow Mini.

​They had an actual 'Back to the Future' DeLorean car with the door lifted straight up into the air, which was really cool to see up close.

​There was a bright red Morgan, a Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe sports car, and an Austin Healey that a few guys were helping to push because unfortunately, it had broken down as soon as it arrived!

​Inside the venue, they had all kinds of fun nostalgia, like a classic National Benzole petrol pump with an analogue clock face and old car magazines framed on the wall. It was an interesting event with a great atmosphere.
