Motorhome Travels into Belgium

(edited)

After a leisurely start, we left our first campsite near Calais. With no electric hookup to disconnect, we were soon on our way. Joining the main route was straightforward and easy as we headed towards Belgium.

By late afternoon, the surrounding scenery had completely changed. The flat landscape gave way to rolling hills and green valleys. We took a few breaks along the journey to stretch our legs and enjoy the views before we finally arrived at a quiet campsite next to the river in Tintigny.

We parked up and let the pooch out into the fresh air. He immediately celebrated the end of our long journey for now with a very happy, enthusiastic roll on the soft grass, stretching his legs after being in the motorhome for so many hours on the road.

After spending hours travelling, getting out for a relaxing walk along the river felt good. My legs had become quite stiff from sitting in one position for hours on end. The weather was lovely and warm which was a real bonus, although I had packed clothes for all kinds of weather just in case.

Back inside the motorhome, we boiled the kettle for a hot drink and then settled for a tasty pizza at the campsite café. It is always great to have a café onsite because you do not always feel like cooking after a long drive. Although, I hate cooking full stop! The piano playing inside the café also left a lot to be desired.

The campsite was lovely and peaceful, and the shower facilities were kept very clean. It was great to sit outside by the water and unwind after hours on the road. The peaceful surroundings made for a really relaxing evening, which is really good about this style of travel. Having a quiet spot to recharge makes all the travelling worthwhile.

Tomorrow we will continue our drive through Belgium and cross over into Luxembourg and then Germany to explore further. I am really looking forward to seeing what the next leg of the journey brings as we head deeper into the region.
