​Motorhoming Through Germany: Lake Titisee and Four Legged Swims!

We went to visit Lake Titisee in Germany continuing our motorhome adventures. It is located in the High Black Forest region.

The lake itself was very big, covering a huge area surrounded by green hills and tall pine trees. It was formed thousands of years ago by an ancient glacier. The water was very clear and blue, and the sunshine made the surface glisten.

This part of Germany sits high up in the mountains. It is a great area to travel through in a motorhome because the scenery is lovely everywhere you drive. Nearby, you have Feldberg, which is the highest mountain in the Black Forest area, along with lots of quiet countryside roads, hiking paths.

The main area was very busy and touristy. A lot of people were walking along the wide paved promenade called the Seestraße. The town area was decorated with gorgeous, bright flower beds full of pink and yellow flowers set against the traditional Black Forest buildings.

There were also many outdoor cafés, ice cream shops, and restaurants lined up along the water. Lots of people were sitting outside at tables under big umbrellas, enjoying drinks, lunch, and slices of famous Black Forest cherry cake. Walking further along the street, you could see fancy decorative iron signs hanging outside the local restaurants, with even more colourful flower boxes lining the stone walls and pathways.

Down by the water, there were lots of boats. They had bright orange and green electric motorboats available to hire, along with pedal boats for families to ride around on.

Tour ships were also docked nearby, taking groups of passengers out for scenic cruises around the big lake. Ducks were swimming close to the edge looking for scraps of food from the visitors.

The pooch loves swimming, so as soon as we reached the shore, he trotted down to the sand and pebbles and straight into the shallow water to cool off. After wading in, he then swam out a bit deeper into the clear water right next to the docks and colourful boats. After a good swim, he came back out onto the shore and had a big shake, sending water everywhere.

Even with all the shops, busy cafés, and crowds of tourists near the main town area, the lake was so vast that it still felt big and beautiful. Looking out over the water toward the distant mountains made it a lovely place to visit. Watching the za,rzrzz,pooch have a good swim in the clear lake was the best part of our trip to Lake Titisee.
