bauKULTURstelle - historic building plus exhibition !

The exhibition “70 Years of the Braun SK4 and 80 Years of Vinyl” will be on view through June 14, 2026, at the historic BauKULTURstelle building in the Dingden district of Hamminkeln.
It is a former village schoolhouse.
The building was saved from decay
and transformed into an educational center for architectural culture and a village gathering place.
The project has won several architecture awards.

The current exhibition focuses on the history of the vinyl record, but above all on cover art.
Recording devices are also on display.
From the gramophone to the Transrotor, it’s truly wonderful to see these devices in person.
There are also many record covers on display featuring gimmicks or 3-D effects.
Of course, there are also many covers designed by successful artists, such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Banksy, HR Giger, and others.
The building, which is a listed historic site, is also something special and gives the exhibition its own unique character.
It’s well worth a visit!!

This is the smallest gramophone in the world.
It's called the Mikiphone and was manufactured between 1926 and 1928:

On some covers, the image changes when you tilt them; here's an example:
