The view of Mt Mansfield and Smugglers Notch in Northern Vermont from the high speed quad lift at Stowe Mountain Resort on the last day of the ski season, 2026.
What a season it has been, here at the best ski and snowboard destination on the East Coast. If you have ever heard the term "ski the East", this is where they are talking about. Stowe, Vermont has had an epic winter. The snow started to fall heavy in November, and stuck around pretty much straight through April. The entire resort was open pretty much the entire winter. This meant that there was absolutely incredible snowboarding off the trails, through the trees. I did some exploring this year, and felt like every day I was finding new, fun, challenging places to snowboard. I got some days in with friends, and managed to walk away, fully recovered, from one harrowing crash into a tree.
At the bottom is a snapshot into my season, thanks to my EPIC app, tracking all of my days and lifts and vertical distance. I got up to the mountain a total of 43 days, which means I paid about $23 a day to snowboard this season, thanks to my season pass. I boarded just under 300,000 vertical feet, although that is most likely due to me spending so much time in the trees, which is a lot slower and tougher on my legs than just going straight down.
Looking back over the season there are so many highlights. And I couldn't help but think about all of them as I traveled up the lift on the last day of the season. Beautiful views and blue skies greeted me, with rapidly warming temperatures and spring corn snow conditions. It was a fabulous way to end the season. Now these trails will turn into hiking trails and people will be dusting off their mountain bikes for the opening bike trails.
Enjoy some of the amazing views from the slopes of Mt. Mansfield from our last day of the skiing season!
Top of the quad ski lift. Still top to bottom skiing at Stowe on April 25th, 2026. What a season it has been.
A couple of times I just had to stop and soak it all in. There was hardly any crowd at all, and still so much snow to play in. Not bad for late April here at Stowe Mountain Resort.
Nicely groomed, fresh tracks, and blue skies! What more could you ask for?
I didn't even know that the Nosedive run, a black diamond off the side of the quad, would be open. It was another nice surprise.
Cernterline, under the lift, was a bit patchy. There were still lots of open options, and everywhere you looked was just beautiful.
This is my SWAT team ski outfit, at the top of Hayride, one of the famous 'Front Four' black diamond runs off of Mt Mansfield here in Vermont.
Get ready. Hayride, here I come!
You would need your rock skis for this run!
Like a painting. This is the cliff house at the top of the gondola, under the famed Mt. Mansfield peak.
Getting higher into the alpine region of Mt Mansfield.
Blue skies and only a few people in front of me for first tracks at the opening bell!
How much longer will these frozen waterfalls exist? Spring is rapidly approaching.
These radio antennas are at the chin of Mt Mansfield. This look is on the way to Nosedive.
More frozen waterfalls!
Stowe Mountain Resort really did a great job with snowmaking and keeping the resort open until late April this year.
Well, I didn't hit 300,000 vertical feet this year, but 43 days at the mountain...hell yeah! There was a lot of time spent in the woods, one major accident when I hit a tree and was out for 6 weeks, but a full recovery, and some of the best snowboarding of my life!
As always, keep posting and keep traveling!

Estos paisajes son muy lindos, uno de mis sueños es viajar allá para poder conocer la nieve
I hope you make it to play in the snow, one day!
