Moss Glen Falls, as seen from the overlook. There is a pretty steep section of the hike at the end here to get to this lookout, but it is worth it. This is one of the most dramatic waterfalls in Vermont.
Moss Glen Falls is considered to be one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Vermont. A short hike through beaver countryside, on a well maintained boardwalk, takes you to a scenic overlook of the 125 foot falls. It is pretty easily accessible, however there is a steep section at the very end to get up to the overlook.
Just walking through the beaver habitat is reason enough to come here. The beaver home is visible in one of the ponds they have created by damming up the stream. Ducks play in the newly created ponds, and snakes sneak out from under the boardwalk. Springtime is here, which means all the animals are coming out of the winter slumber. It is still a little cold to play in the clear water, but that will come with summer.
I really wanted to fly my drone here, but it is a bit risky. The rocky cliff walls make finding satellites difficult, which means I can't make my drone hover. I have to watch it and fly it very carefully, so it doesn't clip an overhanging tree branch or fly into the cascading waterfall. Today was a success though, so it lives to fly another day.
Enjoy coming on the hike with me, here in springtime Vermont.
I guess they have had some accidents here before.
There is a really nice boardwalk that keeps you high and dry as you walk through the beaver habitat on your way to the falls. This tree was recently carved away by beavers, even though it had been painted with grey paint and sand, to try and keep the beavers away.
This was exciting to see. A garter snake slithered out from the cracks of the boardwalk, right in front of me. It was the first snake I've seen this year. The weather has been getting warm enough for them to start coming out again!
The spingtime weather brings fiddle head ferns out as well.
Moss Glen Falls cascades down into a calm pool, surrounded by falls. It would be pretty fun to scramble up here and jump in someday...on a warmer day perhaps.
This is where the garter snake came from.
Beavers have changed the landscape by chopping down trees and creating ponds.
The winding boardwalk, heading towards the falls.
The beavers have come out of winter hibernation as well. I can see a lot of fresh wood chippings, and some new sticks on their beaver home.
During the summer, this is a great place for the kids to play. This is just downstream from the falls.
As always, keep traveling and keep posting.

It was a nice relaxing place, no wonder the snake love to stay.
Are you a fan of snakes, Emmi? I love them.
Nope. They're not one of my likes. Huhu
