Wrocław - the city of bridges and the world of dwarfs in Poland

Hi everyone. today I will write to you about a city in Poland, Wroclaw. I arrived in the city by plane from Sofia, it was a direct flight and Sofia is very close to me. The flight was about 35 minutes. We had a bus from the airport to the city center. Otherwise, we went in an organized manner, as always in our old society.I wasn't blown away by this trip, but I was really pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the city.Namely, the city extends over the Oder River and its 4 tributaries, more than 25 small islands, and has over 200 bridges. We started our tour of the city from the main square, Reinek. The square is very large and is where most of the tourist attractions are located. In order to photograph the panorama of the city and at the same time enjoy the view, one group went to the high tower and I climbed the stairs to the Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene. The two towers are connected by a pedestrian bridge 45 meters above the ground, which offers panoramic views of the city. Legend has it that the bridge is haunted by the souls of women who preferred partying to housework, hence the name Bridge of Penitents. The photo shows the bridge, and there is also a bronze figure of dwarfs, which are the symbol of the city, so I wanted to see that too.

The square is dominated by the City Hall, the 14th-century Church of St. Elizabeth, and the even older Church of St. John. The buildings are painted in various colors. I've seen this before in Romania. It seems my neighbors like pastel colors on their beautiful buildings.

As I said at the beginning, the symbol of the city are small bronze gnomes that are all over the city. There are about 300 of them and each one is placed for a reason. Let's say there is a dwarf with a bun in front of the bakery, a dwarf with a padlock in front of the prison, etc.

After a visit that lasted several hours, we headed to “Cathedral Island”. Cathedral Island is the oldest part of the city, with the magnificent Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and several others. The Old Town can be reached from the center by a leisurely walk along the river in about 20 minutes, crossing one of the many bridges. On such a small island, so many buildings, I was amazed.

We returned along the same road by the river. I spotted a few ships. A cruise could be arranged to visit all the islands. A walk by the river was enough to see the beauty of the city. And let me not forget that this is a student town because one third are young students.

On the way back, we stopped at a shopping mall that only sells food. It's very difficult to choose. There's everything. We bought cherries and continued walking to the hotel. The impression was fantastic. This city is definitely worth seeing.

Impresionante el dato de los más de 200 puentes, no me imaginaba una ciudad así en Polonia. El atardecer desde la torre de la catedral se ve increíble. Gracias por compartir el recorrido

This is awesome as usual, your pictures are always on point.

Keep up the good work. Do you mean they have dwarf cities and towns in the country of Poland?

I would love to see them not only on their bronze sculptures. That was a very nice travel full of amazing sights and stories.

Thanks. I'd love to see the city of dwarves too, but I haven't heard of it.
