Today, I visited the largest market in Baidoa, called Janaay. It is an enormous market. To get there, I crossed several streets, which took me about two hours. Some roads were closed due to ongoing construction work.
As I walked along a long avenue, I spotted the magnificent Dahabshiil bank building — I had to take a photo
Continuing on my way, I finally reached the large market, an impressive and vibrant place.

Maanta, waxaan booqday suuqa ugu weyn ee magaalada Baydhabo, oo la yiraahdo Janaay. Waa suuq aad u ballaaran. Si aan halkaas ku gaaro, waxaan ka gudbay wadooyin badan, taas oo igu qaadatay ku dhawaad laba saacadood. Qaar ka mid ah wadooyinka ayaa xirnaa sababo la xiriira dhismo socday.Markii aan ku socday waddo dheer, waxaan arkay dhismaha quruxda badan ee Dahabshiil Bank — runtii waa meel aad u soo jiidasho leh, sawir ayaan ka qaaday.Markii aan sii socday, ugu dambayn waxaan gaaray suuqa weyn, meel aad u qurux badan oo buuxda nolol iyo firfircooni.

At the Janaay market in Baidoa, I noticed that most of the inhabitants young and old work hard, each trying to earn a daily living. I also saw girls on their way to school. As I continued my walk, I observed young boys working, as well as mothers selling vegetables. It was truly a close-knit and hardworking community. Life in Baidoa is fascinating and full of charm.

Suqa Janaay ee Baydhabo, waxaan arkay in inta badan dadka deegaanka — yar iyo weyn — ay si adag u shaqeeyaan, mid walba oo raadinaya nolol maalmeedkiisa. Waxaan sidoo kale arkay gabdho ku socda dugsiga. Markii aan socodkayga sii waday, waxaan arkay wiilal yar yar oo shaqo ku mashquulsan, iyo hooyooyin iibinaya khudaar. Runtii waxay ahayd bulsho isku xiran oo shaqo‑kar ah. Nolosha Baydhabo waa mid cajiib ah oo soo jiidasho leh.

As I continued my tour of the market, I went inside and discovered some beautiful things boutiques selling stunning clothes, as well as stalls filled with shoes and other accessories offered by the traders.
The market traders welcomed me warmly and were very kind.
I had the opportunity to chat with them and asked how business was going. They responded optimistically, saying that they were doing well.

Markii aan sii waday socdaalkayga suuqa, waxaan gudaha u galay halkaasna waxaan ku arkay waxyaabo qurux badan: dukaamo lagu iibinayo dhar aad u qurux badan, iyo miisas ay ka buuxaan kabo iyo agab kale oo ay ganacsatadu iibinayeen.Ganacsatada suuqa waxay igu soo dhaweeyeen si diirran oo naxariis leh.Waxaan helay fursad aan kula sheekaysto, waxaanan weydiiyey sida ganacsigu yahay. Waxay igu jawaabeen si rajo leh, iyagoo sheegay in ay si wanaagsan u ganacsanayaan.

As I continued my tour of the market, I entered the most famous shop, called Yusurow, where they sell plant-based products such as coffee and ginger oils, coconut oil and many other items I didn't know about.
You can really find anything at the market. I asked if I could take a photo and they gave me permission.
I would recommend that anyone travelling in Somalia visit this market: you will discover things that you have never seen before.

Markii aan sii waday socdaalkayga suuqa, waxaan galay dukaanka ugu caansan oo la yiraahdo Yusurow, halkaas oo lagu iibiyo waxyaalaha dhirta laga sameeyo sida saliidaha qaxwada iyo sanjabiilka, iyo sidoo kale saliid qumbaha iyo walxo kale oo kala duwan oo aanan aqoon.Suuqa waxaad ka heli kartaa wax walba. Waxaan weydiiyey in aan sawir ka qaadan karo, wayna ii oggolaadeen.Waxaan kugula talin lahaa qof kasta oo safar ku taga Soomaaliya inuu booqdo suuqa: waxaad arki doontaa waxyaalo aanad waligaa hore u arag.

Your walk through Janaay market in Baidoa felt very vivid, especially the part where the roads were partly closed for construction and you still kept going until you reached that lively market.
