Mis raices andinas. 🌱 My Andean roots.

Hay lugares en el mundo donde nos sentimos cómodos, tranquilos y felices cada día; un día puede amanecer con rayos de sol que te alimentan el cuerpo, pero al instante el clima cambia y las nubes cubren cada montaña y no logras ver nada. Así es el clima de este pueblo que hoy les vengo a mostrar, un pueblo maravilloso donde yo nací hace 51 años.

There are places in the world where we feel comfortable, calm, and happy every day; one day may dawn with rays of sunshine that nourish your body, but in an instant the weather changes and clouds cover every mountain and you can't see anything. That's the weather in this town that I'm here to show you today, a wonderful town where I was born 51 years ago.

Tiene nombre de animal, se llama El Oso y pertenece al Estado Táchira en Venezuela. La verdad no se a que se debe su nombre, he de imaginarme que en algún tiempo había osos de verdad en aquel lugar y por eso se llama así.

It is named after an animal, El Oso (The Bear), and belongs to the state of Táchira in Venezuela. I don't really know where its name comes from, but I imagine that at some point there were real bears in that place and that is why it is called that.

Aunque me fui de aca en mi adolescencia para ir a estudiar a la ciudad, nunca me alejé del todo y cada vez que había vacaciones o alguna fecha patria volvía a recorrer estos caminos hasta llegar a casa.

Although I left here in my teens to study in the city, I never strayed far, and every time there were holidays or a national holiday, I would travel these roads until I reached home.

Nunca me olvido de cada rincón, sus árboles, montañas y su gente; aunque ha crecido mucho y hay nuevos vecinos, puedo decir que los conozco a casi todos, porque así es mi pueblo, es cálido, es cordial y es un lugar del que nunca te quieres ir.

I never forget every corner, its trees, mountains, and people. Although it has grown a lot and there are new neighbors, I can say that I know almost everyone because that's how my town is: warm, friendly, and a place you never want to leave.

En el Oso, hay muchas cosas que hacer, así que es muy difícil que cualquiera se aburra, las mujeres principalmente se ocupan de la casa y los hombres de sembrar la tierra, atender las vacas, ordeñar, vender lo que la tierra produce. Y por las tardes, cuando todos tomamos un descanso podemos tomarnos un café mientras comentamos los sucesos de un nuevo día.

In El Oso, there are many things to do, so it's very difficult for anyone to get bored. The women mainly take care of the house and the men sow the land, tend to the cows, milk them, and sell what the land produces. And in the afternoons, when we all take a break, we can have a coffee while we discuss the events of the day.

La gente de esta tierra es increíblemente parrandera, si no hay motivos para hacer una fiesta se lo inventan, así que los fines de semana nos vamos a la bodega de Anselmo y nos tomamos una cerveza, escuchamos música y si alguien quiere bailar pues la pista siempre está abierta para gozar.

The people of this land are incredibly festive. If there is no reason to have a party, they invent one, so on weekends we go to Anselmo's cellar and have a beer, listen to music, and if anyone wants to dance, the dance floor is always open for fun.

Mi pueblo andino, la tierra de mis ancestros, a ellos les debo parte de lo que soy hoy en día, de ellos aprendí a trabajar, a ser responsable, buena vecina, organizada y mucho más.

En el Oso puedes realizar distintas actividades con tu familia, podemos ir a caminar a los caseríos cercanos y visitar a tus amigos, podemos ir a los ríos, montar caballo, jugar bolas criollas, sicuela, domino y más.

My Andean village, the land of my ancestors, I owe them part of who I am today. From them I learned to work, to be responsible, to be a good neighbor, to be organized, and much more.

In El Oso, you can do different activities with your family. We can go for walks to nearby villages and visit friends, we can go to the rivers, ride horses, play bolas criollas, sicuela, dominoes, and more.

Por ser un pueblo cercano a la frontera con Colombia podemos ir a pie si queremos, ya que tenemos a dos horas el pueblo de Ricaurte; pero también podemos ir a Cucuta en carro, autobús o en moto por la frontera con Ureña o San Antonio del Táchira.

Since it is a town close to the Colombian border, we can walk there if we want, as the town of Ricaurte is only two hours away. But we can also go to Cúcuta by car, bus, or motorcycle via the border with Ureña or San Antonio del Táchira.

El oso es un pueblo organizado, es un pueblo donde el mayor problema es que te quieras quedar; les digo que más de un turista termina tan enamorado de la tierra y su gente que mas nunca se van.

El Oso is a well-organized town, a town where the biggest problem is that you'll want to stay. I can tell you that more than one tourist ends up falling so in love with the land and its people that they never leave.
