Walking through Montevideo # 23: Blanes Museum🖼️🏛️🎨 EN/ES

How is my beloved Hive community doing? A few months ago, a dear friend from my teenage years named Maria Alejandra came to visit me here in Montevideo. I took advantage of those days to do lots of things with her, including exploring the city’s historic and iconic sites. Today, I’d like to share a little bit about the Blanes Museum with you.
Como se encuentra mi querida comunidad de Hive?, Hace unos meses una querida amiga de la adolescencia llamada Maria Alejandra me visito aca en Montevideo. Aproveche esos dias para realizar muchas actividades con ella, incluyendo pasear por lugares históricos y emblemáticos de la ciudad, en este caso les quiero mostrar un poco sobre el Museo Blanes.
Best known as “the painter of the homeland,” Juan Manuel Blanes was a prolific and renowned Uruguayan painter of the 19th century. His works, which focused on the history and moments of great patriotic and independence significance of the era, made him a major figure in local art—so much so that he now has his own museum in his native country, though many of his works are on display in museums across various Latin American countries.
Mejor conocido como "el pintor de la patria", Juan Manuel Blanes fue un prolĂfico y famoso pintor Uruguayo en el siglo XIX, sus trabajos enfocados en la historia y momentos de gran valor patriotico e independentista de la Ă©poca, lo hicieron un gran referente del arte local, tanto asi que en la actualidad tiene su propio museo en su pais natal, pero muchas de sus obras se muestras en museos de varios paises latinoamericanos.

I am Venezuelan, so it’s possible that when I appreciate his art, it doesn’t move me as deeply as it might a Uruguayan, since these majestic paintings are part of their past—a legacy that allows new generations to see what life was like centuries ago, as well as to understand the events of those moments that shaped what Uruguay is today.
However, his works are so rich in detail that, even if they do not move me emotionally, I greatly admire the quality of his work, the interplay of shadows, the excellent rendering of the human or animal form, and how meticulous he was down to the smallest detail.
Yo soy Venezolana, es posible que al apreciar su arte, no me mueva el alma como a un uruguayo, ya que estas majestuosas pinturas son parte de su pasado, un legado que permite a las nuevas generaciones ver, como era la vida hace unos siglos atrás, ademas de poder entender como fueron los hechos de esos momentos que definieron lo que es Uruguay hoy en dia.
Sin embargo, sus obras son tan ricas, en materia de detalles que aunque no me mueva de manera emocional, si admiro mucho la calidad de su trabajo, el juego con las sombras, la excelente percepción de la forma humana o animal y como fue cuidadoso del hasta los más minimo detalle.
We spent the afternoon among the sculptures and paintings; we spent so much time wandering through the halls of the Blanes Museum that when we left a couple of hours later, it was starting to rain.
We sat down to chat and admire the art; even the picture frames were worth noticing, with some featuring majestic metal finishes and others made of wood.
Entre esculturas y pinturas pasamos la tarde, fue tanto rato paseando por los pasillos del museo Blanes, que cuando salimos un par de horas mas tarde, estaba comenzando a llover.
Nos sentamos a conversar y a apreciar el arte, incluso los marcos de los cuadros eran dignos de atenciĂłn, acabados majestuosos algunos en metal, otros en madera.
There’s nothing better than spending quality time with a friend, and if that friend also shares similar tastes, you shouldn’t miss out on opportunities to have a good time. My friendship with Maria Alejandra is like a cactus—you don’t have to water it every day to keep it alive, yet when you go to see it, it’s still thriving.
She’s made me fall in love with Buenos Aires, helping me enjoy that beautiful city, even in the most unexpected corners. I hope I’ve helped my friend enjoy her brief visit to Montevideo.

No hay nada mas bonito que pasar buenos momentos con una amiga, y si ademas esa amiga comparte gustos similares, no hay que desaprovechar las oportunidades de vivir buenos momentos, mi amistad con Maria Alejandra puede ser como un cactus, no hace falta regarlo todos los dias para que se mantenga vivo, sin embargo cuando vas a verlo esta intacto.
Ella me ha hecho querer a Buenos Aires, haciendo que disfrute de esa hermosa ciudad, incluso en los rincones mas inesperados, espero yo haber, hecho que mi amiga disfrutara el breve paseo por Montevideo.
